:tumble: Those twin "HS4s" I picked up from a member at L2B were actually HS2s! Was really looking forward to rebuilding them and getting them on for BH2N! Looks like it'll just be the boggo HIF44.

Ah, that extra 1/4 inch makes so much difference >_<

Yup, boring old HIF44 it is!

Spent pretty much the whole of this weekend getting the engine in! Got some stuff through from Minispares Saturday morning which enabled me to finish the engine build by midday on Saturday, didn't get much done in the afternoon, but got the engine into the engine bay by about 4pm. It took many many hours to get the thing bolted in. For some inexplicable reason they engine mounts just wouldn't line up, spent ages bolting one in, then struggling to get the engine in position for the other side, then unbolting one side and bolting the other in to try and get it in the other way. Finally, mid-Sunday morning I got the thing bolted in. Had to loosen off one engine mount, and then loosen off the engine mount block bolted to the speedo housing to get it anywhere near close to lining up. Even after it was bolted in I struggled to get the engine to tilt forward enough to get the steady on! Hate to think about the stress that the engine steady bolt is under! :P

Anyway, after that, managed to get the gear linkage bolted in, clutch on and working, crank trigger wheel on and adjusted, oil filter and pipe on and filled with oil, starter motor on, alternator and water pulley on and tensioned, carb bolted on and adjusted for first use and exhaust manifold bolted on.

To get the engine running I've got to:
  • Fit cooling system
  • Wire up the engine
  • Fit exhaust to manifold
  • Set the tappets

After that I'd still like to:
  • Modify and fit the 6 point roll cage, with harness bar at least, and preferably the dash bar
  • Finish wiring up the dash switches and relocate
  • Put the choke cable somewhere!
  • Fit passenger seat
  • Sort out the dam doors
  • Convert said doors to use Mk1 style flexi-glass sliding windows
  • Replace rear quarters with perspex
  • Oh and fit new OBP adjustable bias pedal box! :P

Not much left then really...

ARRRGGHHHHH! :ermm:

Got everything bolted on to the engine, wired up, plumbed in, etc. Had a bit of a problem as TJenkos had forgot to leave the block coolant plug in the engine, so the water was leaving as fast as I was filling up! Got a couple of leaks on my cooling system, one at a joint, and another between the 'stat housing and the sandwich plate.

But anyway, went to fire the beast up and it just wasn't spinning over quickly at all. Hooked up the battery to the Audi to give it some more juice and still wasn't doing much. Swapped over the solenoid for a nice shiny new one and that helped but it was still no where near starting. Am suspecting either the old battery cables, or the starter motor.

Had to rebook the suspension set up for next Sunday as the car was ready to go to BRR yesterday. Also running out of time to get it running for the rolling road on Friday! And definitely running out of time to get it ready for BH2N!
