Thank you hun. I intend too! :) :dontgetit:

Got the engine out last night. Confused myself even more by finding the C clip on the floor beneath the engine, so it had obviously fallen out when I took the clutch off.... It looks in good condition too, so it obviously hasn't been mangled trying to work its way out the slot. So I'm not sure now what caused the flywheel to move.

Thanks James! :ermm:

Not a big update/essay like usual this time...

Managed to get some extra thick door seal from Phoenix Supplies whilst at Bristol Mini Days. Also picked up a 1293 short engine that TJenkos was selling, along with his Ultralite flywheel and some new headlights. Thanks to Purple Tom for bringing me those bits from Derby!

Fitted the new, thicker door seal today to the drivers door, found out that you need just a bit more than 3m to surround the whole door aperture! :ermm: Looks like it might just be a bit more waterproof now! There is a bit of a gap right at the front of window frame, but looking along the side of the Minus from outside shows that the window frame it bowing out at this point anyway, so I think some jiggery pokery should fix that.

The rest of this evening has been spent stripping down the old engine. Have split the block from the box, and stripped down the block, just need to take the cam out of it now. Have already inspected the 1293 block. The main bearing shells look in good condition. The big end bearings are ok, very slight scoring, but should last a good few few thousand miles. The camshaft bearings look reasonable, a bit of scoring on these again, but again I think they'll last. When I get this engine in place I might build up a lightened, balanced and worked bottom end just in case though.

0.4mm of crankshaft endfloat says my 1293 block needs a rebuild!

Yet more weeks the minus is going to be off the road! :w00t:

Still, might take this opportunity to build a decent bottom end...

Anyone know if lightening is a DIY process?

I wish! I started on my 'real' workshop machines with a purchase of a half decent pillar drill a few months back. A lathe was the next thing on my list.
