On the relay each in is labeled:

30
85
86
87 (middle)
87

And the wires come off them are as follows

30 - Red, which is an open ended wire...
85 - Black, which has both and open ended wire and a wire going to the sunroof swich
86 - Orrange, which is an open ended wire
87 (middle) - Red, goes to switch
87 - Blank-no wire

Can anyone help?

when you say orange is open ended do you mean its not connected to anything, does the roof, work if not will it work putting power straight to roof ie bypass switch.

i wonder if red is to open and orange to close possibly just a shot in the dark, does the orange become live when you operate the wsitch

Yea orrange isnt connected to anything... Nope i cant get the roof to work.. Iv tried putting the red and orrange both live at the same time and thats about it, and that puts power through to the motor when i press the open/shut button as it moves the motor a little bit but thats about it, it doesnt looks like its trying to open...

that is a standard relay...

the two on the sides, are the coil windings.
then you have a normally open connection and a normally closed connection. the top one is the normally open connection ( i.e. it makes the circuit when power is supplied to the coil), and th emiddle one is the normally closed connection ( which means it is connected when the relay's coil is not powered.) the connection at the bottom is the common connection which relates the the normally open and normally closed terminals.

hope this helps, may not as i am drunk!!

If you have a circuit diag of the roof it would be easier to figure out how it all works

OK that really confused me lol, have you got any ideas what each wire is? Iv just labled the relay for the numbers and what comes off each wire, but could you tell me where to wire them in to?

This is a standard really & not sure it's suitable for the sunroof not actually knowing how the sunroof works sorry. To get it to operate you put a current across pins 86 & 85 this then pulls the relay in & connects 30 to BOTH 87's.

So under normal operation (air horn etc) you would have a live through a switch coming onto 86, 85 would be earthed. You would then have you constant live (fused) coming onto pin 30 & your wire going off to you equipment from pin 87. But as I say not sure how that could operate a sunroof which has to have a reverse on it.

Alan...

Edit:- Google maybe you friend http://www.techwebas...ring_select.htm not sure which roof you have.

After looking at the wiring in the PDF it is correct (the relay that is), all it's actually doing is switching the power to the sunroof, it means that you have to have the ignition switched in to get the roof to work. This is a fail safe, you should really only use it when the engine is running as I assume it will take a lot of current. The actual switch on the sunroof does all the clever bit's i.e. making it open & close. However you did say that it wouldn't open or close by putting live straight from battery to sunroof, you need to sort that out really first before you even bother with the relay, just in case the sunroof is foobar'd.

Alan....

Edit:- Just to add you need to be using some good sized wires 0n this 30A or so from Battery to relay, relay to sunroof & sunroof to earth. The other side of the circuit is not as important.

Ok well i just went out and tested how i wired it before and i could see that the motor would jump as i pressed the switch, so i took it of and i found that the cog does acctually turn, so its nothing to do with the wiring, its the fact that the sunroof is actually seized up...

So my new question is how do i get the top moving again lol, where the motor was i can see two threaded bolt type things, and i guess the cog is supposed to turn these and move the sunroofs open/shut.

So please tell me someone know how to get it open, i have tried pulling is with the motor out, but there is no way its moving that way...

No idea on this type of sunroof as I have never had one, but have had others. To open them manually you normally have to put a spanner or socket on where the motor drives & wind it in or out. If you taken the motor off have you tested the motor without it being connected does it turn?

Yea i did that and the motor does turn, iv also found a way to override the motor and it still wont budge.
