Can anyone with harness'es, or that have had harness'es give me some advice on where I should use as fixing points? Its in a Mini Mayfair saloon. For the lap straps I was thinking of useing where the standard belts fixed, at the buckel clip and the pillar fixing.

Many thanks people!

It mite help a little if I say Ill be useing cobra clubmans and 4 points.

Moved to Mini Chat.

If you look in FAQ there is a diagram showing the safe angles at which you can mount harnesses. The original factory rear seat belt mounting points are fine, as long as they have the reinf. Or the holes in the rear bulkhead (rear seat back), but use spreader plates.

Personally I think the rear belt mounting points are both too low, making the belts at a sharper angle than the recommended maximum of 45deg, and also too far apart.

If you don't have a cage to which you can fasten a harness bar then in my mind the best way is to weld considerable size plates to the rear of the seat back and use that - preferably seam weld the seat back/parcel shelf/shell wherever possible.

I would guess that a lot (if not most) harness installations in road going minis are less safe than the original standard belts.

Lol I would like them to be safer than standard belts lol! Another option I was thinking of, was welding in a 2" steel box section across the middel of the seat panel and bolting on to that... Welding to where ever it touched anything else. The lenth would sitt on top of the rear wheel arches and span the two.
