wow that is excellent, i just assumed mini shortys where literally a shortened mini, but that looks way more serious! Still using the a series and rubber dougnuts or is this going to be more modern underneath?

yes all the other shortys are cut and shut cars

mine will have a purpose built chasis using standard front subframe and a beam axle at the back

of course A series would not be a mini if used any thing else

was hoping to make it as a kit if i got enough interest when its on the road

as it will use standard mini bits so you would only need a scrap mini for a donar

Just thought I stick my two penneth in...

Flippin' awesome....

I'm with Jordie, spaceframe it underneath with a small (600cc'ish) bike engine, will go like stink, and with the majority of the weight being towards the back, should not have too much troube stopping it...

Yes the wheelie, may be a problem, so just add some skids to the back of the space frame..

Good on ya matey.... excellent project.

Hey you old pirate, have I seen that fibreglass shortie at Town and Country in 2003 ???? :cheese: Not saying that you take ages over your projects or anything (and dont give that lame excuse of cutting your finger off either...)

About time that Neon of yours set sail on the waters isnt it!!!!

says the pot calling the kettle black

had other things to do but will be back on track with it once the neon is done

as for a bike engine if i want to go that fast i can just ride my bike

your missing the point of a shorty with big engines and bike engines

a 1000cc would have more than enough power as you dont want to do more than

about 70mph in it as is a short wheel base and untill i get the settings right don't

want to crash it

i took the mould of a steel shorty about 12 years ago and made a body about 2 years ago

it takes a day to lay up the body in the mould so not to hard to do

arrh i be a neon owner had it about a month sold my other mini to do up neon only payed £50 for it needs

a wing
a panel and a rpeair to the front valance

interior is immaculate only done 72000

just rebuilt my mg engine for a bit more go and it started to blow oil after its trip around castle coombe in september
