Red interior!!!! ;) :)
Good choice, that man! It goes brilliantly with the blue. I love the work you're doing. Can't wait to see it finished. :)

Well, I’ve been doing some more bits and bobs lately. Got the engine running over Easter, sounding good, but needing a good tune up session obviously – so my pal is going to help with that very soon.
I’ve got the front windscreen in, back one due to go in tonight. I’ll be glad when they are done because that means I can crack (hopefully not literally!) on with more interior jobs such as rear seats and carpets. Got the wooden dash in too, so looking good there too, also got rear view mirror and sunvisors in (yes, really it is worth a mention).
Got a slight problem with wiper wiring – not too sure which wires to connect to the switch – I’ve got the later motor, but the earlier switch (loom was designed with this in mind). Only thing is, I can’t get the wipers to work – keeps popping the fuse. Anyone got any advice or experience on this one that would help (I’ll take a note of the wire colours later)? Once that is fixed, I can get the rest of the interior fitted – it really is that close… Pictures coming after tonight’s session.

I got them at Holden www.holden.co.uk
Some good stuff from these guys. I think Moss do them too, but Holden were cheaper.
Cheers.

Okay, so I haven’t posted the pictures until now, been really busy lately – making a play house and play area for my son. Hopefully this will make up for it though!! Loads more progress since the last post – rear windscreen, sound deadening felt, carpets, under seat speakers and seats, so I am understandably rather chuffed. This is when it really gets exciting! Next up is to get the rev counter mounted on the steering column bracket – need to make up a bracket for that. I’ve got some aluminium plate for that job. The voltmeter is to be mounted on the lower dash rail just under the centre binnacle clocks. Then I’ve got to make up a panel for the start button, hazard switch and spotlight switch – that’ll all go onto an aluminium plate in the centre console just under the CD player. I’ll have a go at the turned aluminium effect on that… then I’ll get the doors on.

Getting the front windscreen in took a whole evening - people say it should take less time, but this was my first effort.

Rear windscreen went in much quicker – experience & confidence helps.

Dashboard lining going in - home made as its going behind the wooden dash.

Wooden dash in place – It’s been restored – my wife varnished it for me – nice job!

Carpets in – Newton Commercial with bonded soundproofing, I’ve put in extra felt soundproofing underneath.

Looks great! Lovely colour. I've never replaced a rear windscreen before -do you have to legally fit a rear windscreen heater - the elements? / Are you going to? and are there any options to have more than the small standard 4 or 5 element bands?

I'm not going to bother, as they aren't a legal requirement to my knowledge (I haven't checked that out though), they rarely do any good anyway in my experience - open the rear windows to vent it... I think you can get the elements, I'm sure I've seen them somewhere, not sure where...

Thanks for the positive comments guys, yes those spots are nearly 6", probably about 5 3/4" with the body.

By the way, just been working on it tonight, and I'm getting painfully close to completion. Just got the front grille on with the buttons, moustache and ends. Also got the front no plate on. At the weekend I made a switch panel for my extra switches and start button. Got music too, sounds sweet.
On the downside, I'm going to have to change the steering rack as there's a bit of play in the drivers side. Should have just replaced it in hindsight... it felt okay when I took it out, and it is about the only thing I didn't renew, but there you go, these things happen.
I'll get some pics when I get organised garage wise.
