Crank Pulley Differences between 998 and 1275

Can I use the pulley of my 998 on the 1275. My guess is the larger pulley was to improve the harmonics of the crank since there is no offcentre mass to improve balance. Read somewhere there is a cushion in the 1275 pulley. Can anyone confirm that they have used a 998 pulley without blowing there crank to bits? Any links or info is greatly appreciated.
My other options are to remove the bracket bolts and machine them down so the heads are smaller. Or replace with button head screws or something along those lines. Anyone else had this problem after doing a conversion. What was your fix?
Note I am running the 998 radiator and therefore have the bracket where the shroud bolts down onto the top of the engine mount with two screws.
Cheers

dont use the smaller pulley as you may get cooling issues.
sort the problem without working around it.

In which case, basically it should fit (the 1275 one), if it doesn't then there's something wrong with the install...
Which bolts is the damper catching on ? any chance of a pic' ?

Which bolts is the damper catching on ? any chance of a pic' ?
Definitely the crank pulley (damper) not the pump pulley.
I'll tryto describe it.
The lower end of the radiator bracket bolts downwards to the engine mount. It's kind of an L shape from the front. Then at the top two horizontal bolts attach the bracket to the radiator shroud. The bolts have their heads towards the pulley.
A picture would definitely help so I'll try to get one soon. The most rearward of the two bolts is the one that hits.

Ive just done the same conversion to mine and there is plenty of clearence between the pulley and the rad bracket/bolts although ive uprated the rad, the cowling which fits to the mount is the one from the 998. is the alloy part of the mount bolted up correctly?

The above picture shows the engine Mount.
From Memory here is the approx location.
White = edge of pulley
Red = Problem Bolt
Yellow = bracket which bolts to the fan cowling

You need to use the 1275 bottom rad bracket with the long horizontal bolt and not the 998 one... I suspect the cowling is different

If you look a the bottom bolt on your gearbox mounting bracket, it appears that it could move a little, pivoting on the top bolt, so that the top of the gearbox bracket is further away from the pulley? You could try slackening the two gearbox bracket bolts, jacking the engine a little on that side and moving the bracket to gain more clearance???

The lowest bolt in that photo is the one that I was referring to.

When The grind first appeared that's exactly what I did. I may need to have another go at doing that but even when I had jacked it to it's limit I only gained a mm or so anyway. It's weird though because noone else seems to have this problem from what I've seen. Thanks heaps for going out to take a photo. Must be early morning over there. 830pm here
I'm not that daft! It's an old photo!

We've been working over the phone with someone in Whangerai recently (spelling probably totally wrong) so I'm getting used to the time difference. It's 9:30am here.

Sorry I can't be of more help
