Hello all just a little picy! to show my progress (doesn't look much but by god its been hard work!)

just painting the roll cage & wheels up the shell on the right is the pro-mo no front end ATM but when the fiber-glass comes this week I'm hoping to have the time to get it all fitted & premiered!

All the best

Matt

nice sized garage ! who's been running a diesel on veggie oil :withstupid: or do you just like home cooked chips a lot :dontgetit:

HE HE well i haven't a clue what your on about :dontgetit: i run a portable fish n chip shop out of my landy!???... Well at least it smells like i do lol!

They have changed the regs on the old bio diesel! you can no make 2500 liters a year for private use. without declaring! which is 16.000 miles a year on a ruf calculation. so i was just testing the reaction barrel. see how it goes :-

but the garage is one big mess atm iv got another mini behind me when takeing the picy lol so as soon as i sell sum kit & get the R1 up n running. will get it all organised! lol yeah right!

got a funky little screen to go with the dyno-jet commander unit, I can now see exactly what the revs are doing, watch the fuelling map, and at the flick of a button load an alternative map race stylee.

first thing I found is that I am not revving very high at all - what I thought was 12 thou is actually 10 thou so I've got a bit of pushing to do yet !

may seem a silly question but whys it mounted so low? surely you'd want it higher so you can look at it while driving at XXX mph :(

Do you not just rev it until you hit the limiter? Then try and grab the next a fraction earlier next time around :)

Thats the way I've always worked :( Actually set the rev counter up that way lol I knew what the limiter was as standard so revved it til it hit and adjusted accordingly lol

Suprisingly accurate it turned out, when they checked it at the rolling road it was almost bob on :P

I've got a full set of digital guages right infront of me, all mounted into the original binnacle, they all need calibrating properly so this is to help with that process. Its longer term use is to monitor the fuelling map when on the hoof, and to load variant maps to suit the outing via SD card slot on the side. just negates the need to hook up the lap-top. Once we've had the rolling road day we should end up with at least 3 maps - " daily driver map "
that keeps emissions as low as possible for MOT's and the other sillyness, " balls out crazy map" for sprinting, and finally " near self destruct map " for 1/4 mile runs

its also about the only space i could find untill we can make a proper little binnacle for it.

it was an ebay bargain i couldnt resist but admittedly if it had been full price i might not have gone for it just yet, but already its proving very usefull.

Rev limiter :P - untill now I've only hit the limiter a couple of times and the noise at that point makes my fillings rattle - dont forget, no roof, no roll cage - I'm taking it fairly gentle but getting more confident every day :)

reverse gear - still in progress but no definative dates yet. I know the guys have been very busy as demand for the kits has been very high - now on kit 22 I believe with more to come, and they have been doing drive in drive out conversions that obviously takes up even more time.

I'll keep you posted on new stuff as and when the guys let me know, I'm fairly high on the list for the reverse rig, but i dont imagine many of the owners who are building race orientated minis really want the extra weight of the reverse mechanism.

passed the MOT this morning :ermm: dynojet commanderr unit definitely paid dividends. Emissions were too high so a fairly quick read of the instructions, twiddle with nobs and I got her to lean out on the low rev section - passed fine and 10 minutes later re-loaded the original map :w00t:

even taxed as well now - feels weird being legal.

now we can drive her out to get rolling road session done in brum, suspension geomettrey in cov, and finally get up to norfolk for the paint re-finishing.

happy days >_<

I can also go to all the shows now as well !

put the " fast road " gears back on tonight, new personal best of 15 minutes, took her for a run and you really notice how much longer the gearing feels, but its all still good, only wheel spinning in 1st, second and 3rd now.

top speed seems much better, as I'm sure the driver of the ST170 will agree.

I had to repair the wiring to the oil temp sensor in the sump in the week as it made her go very lame, ECU doing its protection thing I guess, it seems OK now but still not 100%

and where everyone else building pro-mo kits is taking angle grinders to their minis to loose weight, I've just added another few ounces with an Ipod hooked up to the stereo.

by my rough calculations we weigh about the same as a small family volvo now :D
