Hi im after a bit of advice on fitting my Webasto electric sunroof.

Well i think i know how to fit it but im just after a bit of confirmation really.

Im planning to chop the roof back so that the sunroof will fall in to place, like this.

So where i have marked in red line will be where the roof meets the sunroof so that the sunroof would slot down so it lies flat with the roof. But i would have to drill the holes in the roof to do this, so i have marked them in red.

Is this correct?

Once the hole is cut and the holes are drilled for the bolts, would i then put this metal backing plate in place like this but with the roof between the plate and the sunroof?

Is this correct?

If i have got thing right sofar would i just put all the bolts back in place then its done?

The next problem is, how would i fit the headlining?

Would i put push it uner this:

Or if not please could someone tell me how?

Any help would be great

your is a bit different to the one i fitted to Mrs bungles

there is a topic in the projects section called project sunroof

what i did was to fit the roof to a piece of thick cardboard and once i was happy with the fit used the card as a template to fit the sunroof

its cheaper to get another bit of card than a mini roof if all goes wrong

I don't know if this site is of any use, but it does show an exploded view of the Webasto Sunroof as fitted to the 1992 Mini British Open Classic LE: -

One of the Keeping Your Mini Alive books has a feature on fitting this very roof with lots of pictures. I'll have a look for it.

Never done this so choose to ignore me if you want!!

However I don't think the bolts/studs go through the roof as doing it the way you ouline would leave the Webasto sitting on the roof rather than in it. I think you're meant to cut the roof to the outside of the bolts/studs so the outer rubber seal sits on the roof and the aluminium plate then sandwiches the Webasto in place.

Just found that it is in KYMA3 and the only holes drilled in the roof are for the front wind deflector section. The aluminium clamps the Webasto to the roof skin, it is not bolted through.

They also show templates in the guide - I guess you don't have these? Maybe see if Webasto could supply them (www.webastohollandia.com or 0121 313 1222)?

Thank you very much  yea im 99% sure you are right about the bolts not going through the roof otherwise the sunroof seal wouldnt be touching the roof skin so it would leak.

Thanks :P seems prety straight forward now :P Ill have a look on the webasto sit now and see if i can order a template.

Google is your friend. I found this:
http://www.webasto.c...obile_3016.html
and this:
http://www.open-air-...or/index_en.php

The one listed in KYMA3 is a Stratos 400 and searching through for Rover Mini leads to the Hollandia 400 being an option - I would expect they are one and the same. search through the site and email them.
