and you have to look at it from a business point of view, not a personal one.

if say skoda... (bad example) wanted to use the smudger name on a car made of GRP, but said they'd pay a royalty for every car and item of merchandise sold and would give you the oportunity to be involved with the design and build and future work i'm sure you'd jump at it!!!
I know i would.

it is a real shame but how many kits were they actually selling, couldnt be many.

also here is another point of view, were they all they were craked up to be? there are always people in the rolling road shoot out mag features with 90 bhp kits that dont deliver anywhere near that. just a thought.

i think your all right, mike cooper is not going to let himself end up in a bedsit because he tried to sell classic mini kits that had no market.

but it's the end of an era, the end of coopers "active" involvement with the classic mini.

truly a sad time. :shifty:

From what I saw at the time most of the people buying genuine John Cooper tuning kits were owners of new or almost new classic Rover Coopers. That market declined from the end of classic Mini production in 2000. Most of us now are the kind of enthusiasts who shop around for the best deal and are not that concerned about fitting real JC premium priced parts to maintain new car warranties, etc.
Now he has done a deal with BMW to fit the new JCW MINI parts on the production line he obviously can't afford to let anybody produce sub standard copies or damage the Cooper brand name even on older classic Minis.
