Ah I always find setting yourself a target helps to get the build going, otherwise I sit around for weeks on end not doing anything to it then all of a sudden realise that im not going to get it finished in time for the next show etc.

What Are you doing with regards to ECU?

I struggled for ages to find the paint..but then found out minispares do it and Bobs your uncle. :D

I will be good to see how this develops over the next few months. :genius:

Cheers jammy and Matt re paint

I suppose I do sort of have a deadline of beginning of April but I'm sure it will be done by then. Mini isnt used over winter so no real rush

ECU came with the engine package and is 'SC's cyclone one complete with a new production loom which means it will just be plug and play, which I'm happy about as never played with injection before

Ah alright for some...lol

Im just about to place my order for 100m odd of wire. Then its all good fun from there.

What are your plans with regards to rad? Are you sticking with the side mount or going a bit more flash with a front mount!

Yeah good luck with wiring that lot!

Plans for the rad are to try and keep the front rad and fan (came with the package) but to get them further back so the grill fits (may have to look at differnet rads instead of the metro mk2 one in there) - John said it would be okay with a side mount twin core/supercool type rad but that leaves no space for the electric water pump

cheers

If you mean radiator Ed that was going to be the last resort due to money, will be having a look around the scrap yards at some modern slimline aluminium ones first off

I had a fiat chiquecento (sp?) in mine fit it nice and snug.

I never got round to fitting fan on it but I think the only way you could do it would be to use a remote oil filter.

Cheers Matty, looking at it I think your right with regards to the oil filter which is a shame as the engine came with a nice SH Engineering alloy filter head but it may be the only way.

Definitely want to keep the grill as the more stealth the car looks the better!

Is that bar across where the slam panel should be removable ?

Yeah its removable, its bolted either end throught the inner wings. It makes it soo easy to remove the engine. :)

If you've got a pre engaged starter you'll also have to rotate it to get the solenoid at the top for extra clearance. :shifty:

It worked really well...only downfall is that it isn't made out of ally, so its a little heavier than most rads.

Slam panel may end up the same, going to get the engine in then look at the space available but the bonnet catch has to go

Whats this about turning the solenoid? as yes it needs a pre-engaged starter, so also got the wiring fun from the inner wing solenoid to deal with as I'm currently on the old style starter

Because the solenoid faces forward (more so on metro starter) you need to rotate the starter so the solenoid is directly above the starter. This free's up an extra inch at the front.

Like this...All you need to do is drill and tap the top hole in a new position then make a bracket for the lower mount and grind tiny bit off the casing around the starter gear so it clears the flywheel.
