That's good news !!

Now you've done it once how do you fancy a second go at fixing mine too ??

Phil.

Took all of about 5 mins with the proper tools Phil, and due to the fact there is more spline than cv joint engagement on the splines I'm not losing any engagement between the cv and the shaft (that made sense to me anyway!)

Well the new shorter driveshaft was installed and all suspension arms have been adjusted to approx the same length ready for final suspension/steering/ride height adjustments.

Got a feeling that the arch will still need to be trimmed slightly on the drivers side but then I always know that the drivers wing wasn't quite in the right place but I wasn't going to remove a recently fitted wing when I renovated the car.

Should be hopefully getting geometry done this week assuming my relative who is going it is back from the isle of man TT.

Only minor progress this weekend due to various reasons time was short but got the arch removed and marked up where its going to need trimming.

Looking at the arch as if it were a clock face, from about 1 oclock down to the front valance will be trimmed. the lip will be removed and then reformed thus moving it up the same distance as the lip is wide.

Then repaint

I've seen people get away with tweaking arches with mole grips. Mark out where you need to trim, leave 10/15mm edge, then gradually form it with the grips. Would save the need for any welding, plus you might be able to get away with not respraying (unless you were going to anyway). It could be touched up but it would probably be hidden by the arch anyway.

Yeah that pretty much what I was going to do and try and blend it into where it doesnt need trimming. Will need a bit of paint but A its under the arch and B I need to mix some up for the passenger sill as a touch up is needed because of stones / gravel at the edge of the road. The leading edge of each sill vent is a little rusty but only surface thankfully so time to sort it now.

Think of trying to make up some sort of front mudguard to deflect the worst but dont want big rubber things screwing to the body, was thicking some carbon fibre sheet maybe fixed to the arch fixings.? Need to have a look / measure up

Tracking is now done and from the previous issues all wheels are now pointing where they should and not fouling anything and everything is dimensionally equal, ie the car is square and wont crab down the round!

Got to trailer her from where she was painted and fit the rad to the front rad and then the grill but that is it before MOT, depending on loan of trailer could be this weekend :D

Just sat and went though this whole topic. I remember reading it when I first joined the forum but thought a good refresh was in order as I'm planning a BMW headed engine for my clubby. Glad too hear your back at it. Cant wait to see it on the road! Good luck.

Right picked up mini on trailer tonight after arch being repainted and tracking done

List of things to do before on the road again

Replace leaking passenger rear brake cylinder and bleed the brakes
Refit electric fan to front of rad
Refit front grill
Good wash and polish
MOT

should have top 3 done this weekend if cylinder is in stock at local motor factors

Only things left to do now is wash and polish and MOT!

Once I get it started! Battery was flat so charged it up but think I flooded it in trying to get it started, ECU is a bit sensitive to low voltage so didnt want to start

Sounding good! Really looking forward to seeing this on the road? Will you be taking it to mini in the park or castle combe? Would love a look over it.

Not sure as yet, want to get it on the road and get some mileage on it first before a trash it round a track! Although Cadwell is only 20mins away!
