Bit more progress today after not touching it for a while.

All coolant leaks now not leaking!

So moved onto the alternator, checked the voltage at idle across the battery 14.2volts and at 2000/2200 rpm it was 14.35 volts so definatly charging but not overcharging but the no charge light on the dash wont light up?

As previously stated the the wiring and the buld are fine but for some reason it wont light up, mate said something about it may need a positive not earth due to it being a nippon denso alternator but I'm going to get the model number and visit an auto electriction

LOL, nah you didnt meet him,
the first 2 episodes are about a girl in Grimsby who has a Frog Eye Sprite Wreck that she wants to do up,
he follows her progress and her completion date is in time for a classic car rally where you happen to be :)

Was it with car or was I just hanging around in the background? Only classic car rally I can think of going to were with mini, Border Classic in north East Lincs or Belvior Castle one a couple of years back

MOT on saturday  - but know it will fail ;) but the failure sheet gives me reason to drive it legally on the road to get it to the garage to get the work required done, which is the tracking, caster, camber etc so the front wheels don't rub on the arches as all the front suspension which is all adjustable has been taken apart etc

So another garage is also booked for the wheel alignment then back for the retest which they can fit in in the afternoon.

Its an excuse for getting behind the wheel :yinyang:

Finally going to be on the road!

Hello,

I have a roundnose mini (MK1 /1965) that i am doing a full rebuild on.It has a 1275 cooper s mk1 block and a remote change gearbox from a standard mini (4 synchro).

I am looking at doing the twin cam conversion and using Yamaha R1 carburretors and have heard that if I do this the bonnet will need to be modified as the carbs will be too long for the standard bonnet.
Is this correct ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated !!

Thanks
