Anyway after speaking to my relatives who own a local garage & rolling road yesterday morning the engine build is going to change slightly in that I have just found that in one of the units they have, which for years I have assumed to be empty, is a block boring machine and they also have a jig for cutting the valve reliefs in the pistons
I'm therefore now looking at buying the parts separatly rather than a short engine kit
Will just need to use local engineering firm to reface the block once its plugged and re-drilled

Cheers for the heads up re the piston jig
Hopefully it means I can save some cash on the machining work to spend on better bottom end

Progress on mine is happening, I've about sorted the spec for the bottom end just need to check a few things out with people re specifications of components then orders will be placed.
Also have sorted some overtime at work so thats going to bring in half the cost of the bottom end which is a good start along with other items I'm currently selling and already sold.
Going to purchase an engine stand also seeing as the engine build will be slow and steady.

Sprocket - who did you get to block the stud/oil ways in the block or did you do it yourself?
I'm going to get the piston cut differently ie just the "crescents" as required for the valves
