Your water outlet pipe from the head appears completely different to mine - but in a good way!

is yours a factory piece or have you made it especially for your electronic pump rig?

thanks

Martin.

I made it from scratch but nothing to do with the electric pump just needed it angled different to standard and to hold the ecu temp sender

Picked up my header tank last night - alloy one to fit in the weber box, also got the oil return and breathers sorted so just need to plumb in the header tank put in some oil and coolant but one small problem is the charge light on the dash, which I have asked about in the tech section but can't seem to find the problem for.

Such a minor thing holding me back is very annoying

All bits and pieces now fitted and fault is the alternator still BUT

turned the key got oil pressure :-

Water pump works :dontgetit:

Electric fan works :genius:

Power from ECU

Sparks from spark plugs :)

But she wont start >_< not even a hint of trying to fire up like the leads are the wrong way round unless I have them completly and utterly wrong - which is possible

Other possibility is that the alternator isn't working so not giving enough power to the ecu?

ahh thats a shame  how about jump starting it...if a running car supplying 14volts cant start it, the problem has to be somewhere else

is it fueling? if so is fueling set correctly? if not might be so far out its not starting up? see if you can richen up the mixture be easier for a spark to start up a rich mix rather than lean

how you check spark? with a strobe light?, that should surly show you that its sparking at just about tdc (wont determin 360degre out tho)

it all set up as it was running in JohnK gold car same ecu map etc etc same fuel pump

Def has a spark (just put new plugs in) def has fuel (could see on old plugs) but not even a hint of wanting to fire

checked all the injectors are firing

checked coil pack connection but its sparking anyway so all is fine

engine is turning over okay but just wont catch

It not jump starting that it needs I dont think as its turning over fine

does your ecu have a starndard setting like 10deg BTDC if you unplug bits? not sure it would work...maybe worth a try tho

deffo not sparking on exhaust rather than compression stroke?

bout out of ideas from me lol

Spoke to Simon at SC yesterday evening and he came up with an idea, to do with what mini93 said above, this engine being pre=production bits and pieces he thinks (and I hope) that its basically firing at the wrong point

production ecu's and trigger wheels fire at the 90 degree BTDC as most systems do but the one on the car is timed differently so he is going to flash another ecu and send it to me

Its the only thing he could think of as I have fuel and spark.

I did swap the plug leads over and got a hell of a bang  out the exhaust, neighbours must love me!

Disconnect the injectors and squirt a little easy start in the TB's. If it fires you know you have compression and spark (in the right place).

Have you checked the fuel pressure at the rail yet?
