http://www.autosport...cal_information

so if i get a MED pully with the teeth ready machined... then that means all i have to position is the VR sensor???

acyually i am not sure. i heard that the MED machined pulley bears no resemblence to any trigger wheel pattern. best bet is SC, KAD or Trigger-wheels

I will probably get the Specialist Components trigger wheel, is there a specific type of sensor i need with this?

Also I havnt fitted the engine yet, so would it be easier to fit the trigger wheel with the engine out, then i can sort the rest out at a later date!

If i do this, how do i set the engine to TDC easily?

Thanks

Jon

The SC one comes with a sensor for an extra £20 or so. It's probably worth it.

The SC setup can be done with the engine fitted, but as with most mini jobs, it's probably easier with it out!

Directions for finding TDC are earlier in this very thread. [EDIT - Page 3, in fact]

Both KADs kit and SC trigger wheel kit have clearance problems with the fan belt though!

Any ideas, or is it just a matter of filing the bracket down until the fanbelt doesn't rub?

Mine isn't quite that bad, the belt only just 'skims' it, as such I don't anticipate any wear problem with the belt. Though I'll be carry a spare and the tools to change it at all times!

Hi quick question, is there enough room between the crank pulley and radiator/ radiator mounting to fit a trigger wheel, without needing to machine down the pulley?

Thanks

I had to grind away the engine mount to get more clearence.

The problem i have is, to change a fan belt, i have to undo the engine mount bracket from the holes in the gearbox, then jack that side of the engine up, so i can slip the belt round.

To overcome the rubbing problem, i have fitted a bearing for the fan belt to roll on. its done a great job so far, covered about 700miles or so with no problems.

Hi there, for my megajolt install I got a disk lasercut up - cost about $12 AUD each then bent each "tine" over and attached to fan belt pulley with 4 small screws.
The mount holes ended up a little out, had to redrill in correct position

I made up a bracket that mounted to the engine steady by welding a couple of bits of steel.

In the pic of your VR sensor, what protection have you used over the cable running from the sensor?

I used black heatshrink - normally used for electronics work. Car is a track day item, so sees the inside of the garage most of the time. Battery in the engine bay, ("Holden - Gemini" starter motor) EDIS ecu up behind the fuse box, coil pack where the heater tubes would normally come through.
