No, you still need a trigger wheel and sensor.

Hi All,

I have read through this topic a couple of times now and just for dummies like me need to clear up a few things.

My engine has a 296 scatter cam so for me a TPS will be best as it is a bit of a wild cam.

I need to take, from the correct ford, a EDIS pack, which consists of Throttle Position sensor, leads, coil. Is this right?

Also I need to get a trigger wheel and bracket for sensor, from specialist components.

To fit the trigger wheel, i need to put engine in TDC, and put the notch in wheel 90 degrees clockwise from top of pulley? To turn by hand, I need to take off engine casing??

What/where is the best megajolt unit to get, can do soldering so what website can i get the kit from?

Thanks for your help,

Jon

look on autosport labs for a kit.

296 should be okay with MAP i would say. Its when you get to the 310 area when its a bit too mad, just shove a big reservoir on it.

would like to ask a question about all of this "put at TDC etc etc". Surely itll just go to where TDC is because the pully can only fit on the engine in one position. So the missing tooth HAS to be in the right place????

yes if you get the pulley machined but if you get the KAD or Specialist Components trigger wheels then it fits on seperately and you can adjust it inifinitely. also it has to be relation to where the VR sensor is mounted as the sensor needs to be 90 degrees before tdc. have a look on the autosport labs website and look at the wiki

http://www.autosport...cal_information

so if i get a MED pully with the teeth ready machined... then that means all i have to position is the VR sensor???

Hi,

I'm using a 286 scatter with MAP sensor rather than TPS and it seems fine. Didn't run it for long though.

The EDIS pack consists of the coil pack and the ignition module, no throttle position sensor.

You'll need to get the crank sensor with which ever trigger wheel kit you decide to go for, this crank sensor then wires into the EDIS ignition module.
