With the oil i was going to use one that was in between the mini and the swift, and probably semi-synthetic if not full,

But i have also been thinking of completely separating the two,
so have an oil tray built in between the box and the engine, but i may look at that later,
but i think it could help with gearbox life using a gearbox oil,
and the engine will essentially be dry sumped (would require a scavenger pump).

if that crank flange isnt in line with the mini gearbox by enuf, im sure the oil seal will take the rest of the strain! looks as near as dammit if u ask me!

Yeah i was thinking along those lines (or at least using something else to do it), but as im going to ring tomorrow ill see what i find out, so i may progress depending on how long its going to take to do the crank adapter.

Yea but if its not straight then the drops will be on the *yellow human water* too, then its game over.

Loving the work by the way, hope it all goes well, it'll be interestin to see :D

Just noticed this thread, are you at it again Ed? lol

I'll be keeping a close eye on the thread but let me know if there's anything I can do to help (doubt it like, but still).

Looks like a great idea for all you 16v'ers if you can pull it off (and having seen Olive and Pandora, I'm sure you will)

See you at Normanby if not before

Gav

Called a guy about getting the crank end CNC'd and he was close so he came to my house and talked about it,
he has taken the crank end i had and the flywheel and will be drawing/designing the crankend, and will also get a quote for the machining work :D
Will have to wait for the quote :D and i dont know how long that will be.

Great to hear that you have got someone that is going to work out the measurments for the adapter and draw them up, fingers crossed he will be able to do the machine work cheap lol :D

I think the 1sp place that you calld cant have wanted to do the work.

Insurance on the swift engine isnt that much, especially from HIC,

My brother got insured on his recently (modified frame to take swift engine and box),
his mini was originally a 92 SPI 1275,
and it cost him an extra £40 (ok it wasn't a new policy),
and most if it was probably admin charge.

This is good. This could be a proper easily priced conversion with no hidden costs. Once you have modified the exchange items and returned them at your TBA price, it's almost as simple as re-fitting the a-series for the customer - it will sell like hot cakes! and if you can develop it for the k-series or similar it will be even more accessible to the average person. Just think of all the mot failure metro gti donors for sale for £50 ish.

As for oil - castrol gtx.

When i get it all working with the swift, i may start looking at the K series, but i dont know how soon that would be.
