Is ed's not a one piece billet, where as that ^ looks like the end of a crank welded (not sayin its a bodge or anythin) to a flange? *tee hee 'flange'*

It was originally a 998 one as that was the crank i had, but now it has been done with a 1275 crank, and im waiting on the engineering shop to get it done, there is a wait as they are very busy
Although a friend who works at a CNC machine shop has done a test one by adding a flange to a chopped mini crank.

 I might be able to manage that :dontgetit:
Have been quite busy recently with some quick work needed to the car, as well as across the country for an interview.
Im going to chase people this week, then ask them how they are getting on with the various bits
Ive also sent of for a quote to get some new flanges cut for the inlet and exhaust so it should be easy if people want to make their own manifolds.

naw Jetblick!
u got it all wrong, the piece in the photo isnt welded at all, its made by chopping a mini crank in half and using the broad portion. when spun on a lathe its reduced to fit the corolla engine bringing the journal down to size and simply shortening the flywheel end, threading and machining the keyway. since its crank material its already hardened and ready for the job!

Still waiting on the crank end, it was given the go ahead to be made, but there needed to be a change to the end spigot so they havent done anything although they know the guy who did the drawing  ill be sorting it this week, just been busy with job interviews etc. :-

Yeah, although i have a couple of options still, also i may very well be getting a mock up crank end from a friend :-
So that should allow me to get this first one together and then I can mess about with getting the proper ones done as i go along.

Moving across the other side of the country hasnt helped especially as i dont have a garage here.
Plus now im working, so im busy during the week.
Although now I am saving for some new tools which will help in making the parts for this.

wow, i'm very interested in this. do you have plans to market this as i wouldnt mind putting my name on the list, and pay part of it up front to help finance it if needed! i've been thinking about the swift gti engine for a long while and they can be found very cheap around here...
