This is now getting on my tits or as the misses would say it's doing my swede in.......

I have just finished putting my mini together it now been on the road 2 weeks ofter passing it's MOT.

I have used new poly bushes kit, with standard subframe and engine mounts and it really feels like the engine vibration is tracing it's way back through the steering wheel, well thats how best to explain it.

I am quite certain it's not the Wheels and Tyres as I have had 2 sets on the car now and I have the same symptoms with both, the car is basically new apart from the steering rack and wheel bearings but not convinced it can be them but it could....... I have also fitted on an ultimate engine steady, wondering if I have stiffened the car up to much and the steering wheel is the only place left for the vibration to go

Just wondering if I have missed anything obvious, as I am fed up with getting pins and needles everytime I drive the car.

by the way it seems worse with the 165/60/12 as opposed to standard 145/70/12

so to sum up HELP!!!

Are the bushes in the steering column new? when they wear they can cause the steering wheel to vibrate.

Seems to be better at idle and gets worse with more revs, I would say yes it is vibrating constantly

Are the steering rack 'U' bolts tight?

Lift the carpet, check the nuts. 2 either side.

A way to check if its the column bushes or not is to see if you can move the steering wheel and inner column up and down whilst the outer column stay still.

very slight vibration at Idle when not in gear but that is normal Mini I think........ no vibration under braking, did think it could be the discs warped but no vibration under braking will rule that out I guess.......

not really sure if I rev it out of gear I will have to try and see
