Difference between black and yellow band brake master cylinders

Firstly, they enlarged the bore on one of the ports to stop people getting front/back mixed up. This is the reason why you need conversion pipes when going from the black band master to the yellow band.
The other reason is that there was a problem with air getting into the black band masters. This was down to the plain bore which they changed to a stepped bore in the yellow band master.
And thats it!

Just been talking to Simon @ Minispares and this has come directly from AP:

The other reason is that there was a problem with air getting into the black band masters. This was down to the plain bore which they changed to a stepped bore in the yellow band master.
And thats it!
I have a split f/r cylinder, ther are two types of brake line sets aswell, one has all metric fittings ( which I ordered)
and the other has unf on the m/cylinder and compensator and metric everywhere else (which my car has)
so Ihad to get the unions changed !! I think Moss list both types of brake pipe sets.

I think the step is just there to increase the the pressure applied to front brakes without increasing the pedal travel more than needed
