you obviously dont know much about bikes or their engines fatmini the bikes you buy from the showroams are NOT race bikes they are race style bikes and of course the engines will go on past 60k with propper maintenence its just the bikes tend to be crashed or stolen before they get to that milage

Stop taking the bait kids, you can't compare a 60 year old engine design with the most modern motorbike engines - you have absolutely no chance. You dont compare mobile phones to yoghurt pots and string and expect them to work as well do you?

Like Ade says, they are reliable and produce the goods for pennies - if you are a die hard A series enthusiast you are doing it for a lot more than just producing power - getting 160hp out of an A series is an achievement to be proud of, something to talk to your grandchildren about. Strapping a bike engine to a mini isn't.....thats not to say I don't think they're bloody good....one ride in a z cars mini was ALMOST enough for me to sell mine and build one......ALMOST!

I cant believe i have read 3 pages of rant just over a reverse gear????

Surely you put a bike engine to give it some performance??

If you want to pop to the shops, Stick with your pushrods!!!

Back to topic:

great conversion, it would be about a normal mini as i would ever own, i may consider it for the future??

Cheers

OK well some of us have small driveways and garages that we have to reverse into or out of and I don't know about you but I have difficulty pushing anything over gravel especially a car, even if it is only a wee one.

I wasn't talking about going to the shops!

well i picked it up today darren and phil (promotive founders) fitted my engine into the frame fitted up the diff and exhaust manifold it all went really well proving these boys have done their homework and their jigs are spot on!

they also rigged up the chain drive and tensioner for me again to see if everything lined up and worked

i'm very pleased with everything so far these guys have come up with some truley innovative solutions to the problem of squeezing an R1 engine into the front of a mini top work !!!

pictures will be coming later when i can find someone to unload my van with me haha

thanks guys and no more arguing over reverse please

That looks bloody magic!

Very low in the frame too, should lower the centre of gravity nicely.

The mini in the DVD seemed to suffer from lack of droop in the suspension as traction didn't appear great? Was that a setup issue, as with that installation I would imagine you could make an absolutely sweet handling mini.
