Did the engine change after 2003 in dimensions and mounting? I know it changed for this year (2007), but was hoping the 2004 to 2006 engines would fit as they're going for less than the 2000, 2001, 2002ish years ones now it seems....

i think its anything from 98/99 to 2003 but best wait for a responce i know for sure the earlier ones fit darrens away this weekend racing as i spoke to him friday...

Cool, thanks, 1998 to 2003 it is then, and I can avoid the whole encrypted key / ECU thing too. Now if I coudl just get Phillip or Darren to write me back confirming my kit spec and set up a deposit, I'm all set. Dropped the old 850 lump out of the mk1 yesterday to get it ready for strip down....

Cheers,

Aric

aric,

I've had a day off from work today to catch up on some of our own business stuff. only just noticed this, i thought it was strange you hadnt got back to us. we did reply to your email the day after you sent it (actually sent it twice now) so dont know whats happened there. We'll have to look into it as it seems that a few people havent got our replies.

ill try sending it again. have you got another email address that might be worth trying?

I'm hoping darren is going to do a new press release saying that the 2003 - 2006 R1 engine can now be accomodated - :ermm: mainly becasue i'm still stuck with one in the garage - the guy I was going to do the swap with is ignoring me completely.

supermotolee - thanks for all the info at the show - bought the DVD and havn't stopped smiling yet :-

out of interest the whole ecu / immobiliser shennanigans with the later engines is very easily got over - 200 quid for a yamaha racing ecu or 250.00 for a new programmable ecu that can cope with rev ranges opto 20,000 rpm from exon race engines in coalville. Both offer benefits of increased power outputs and better response.

Please please please let me use my 2005 R1 ;D

i dont think its to ecu that'l cause the problems as you say there is ways round it, its the geometry of the bike frames are very different and i'd image the engine mounts are too...ask z cars if they fancy a swap they must have a fe engines stock piled... and the newer engine should be worth more

as for being quiet i wimped out of fitting a flip front myself so mini_gti (i think) stepped up and has done that for me so i've just got that back sunday eve and darren has decided to let me have one of the all new all singing and dancing diff cases they look super swish and have been sand cast (i think) so darren is putting my lsd into the new casing

he is also sorting an adjustable throw gear linkage for me to try because he's nice like that haha

so i'm busy putting my front end back together lowering the car to the height i want and generally getting it ready for mot dont worry i'l post some video's and pics when its done...
