Well this is about where i've got to. Keep looking at bike throttle bodies but don't really know enough about it all to have a go that way. At least SBD are pretty much plug n play. Then its just the small matter of exhaust manifold, wiring, plumbing...........

Awesome, they fit well I think, without looking too full. What have you come up with for solutions for the manifold problem? So far I've considered cutting up a C20XE manifold that I've got, or getting hold of a reasonably cheap C16XE manifold and butchering that.

Now I've looked at the engine I can see that the manifold face isn't actually any further forward than the 8V so it shouldn't be difficult to get a decent flowing manifold to fit.

I've also come up with a novel solution to the persistent alternator positioning problem, gonna keep quiet about it until I know that it works, but it could be quite a handy fix if it works :shifty:

Been looking at a few stainless manifolds on ebay but my brother-in-law is manager of a Motormania shop so might see if he can get me one cheap then get it butchered.

I bought the Allspeed alternator bracket which mounts it up inside the drivers side wing just behind the headlamp.

I cut the front end off to give me a bit better access n more room but for some reason the slam panel is closer to the block so got a bit of jiggery pokery to do with that. Good thing about it is that it also replaces the A panels. Used to have it on an old Mini25 that went to heaven

Are you going for a cable clutch or staying hydraulic? I have used the Wilwood pull slave cylinder on a cable gearbox like so

Whereabouts in Derbyshire are you anyway?

Ah yes, re: the alternator you have the luxury of no inner wings by the looks of it? I'm keeping the inner wings as intact as possible, so my options are limited. At the moment its up behind the engine above the tower mount of the bulkhead, but on the valver the ITB's will be there so there's no hope of mounting it in that position.

I'm currently on cable clutch using the Allspeed replacement master cylinder but I'm going to give hydraulic a try on this one. I'm going to go for the clutch release bearing standard Vauxhall slave cylinder (inside the bell housing) and see how I get on with that.

I'm actually in Ambergate, perhaps about 15 miles from you? I work in Chesterfield a lot lol.

Yeah, I'm going for that setup on mine too.

I'm not really a fan of the hydraulics being inside the bellhousing, but it's a tried and tested setup I guess.

Lol, I've not been working on it recently as I've only just finished uni and had my everyday car stolen not too long ago, so money has been diverted into putting that right. I do soon plan on having the shell finished and ready for paint fingers crossed. Both subframes are built and and ready to go, just the shell thats stopping me now

Where abouts in Chesvegas are you Nudger?

Chesvegas indeed >_<

I'm in Hady up near the Royal Hospital but I work in Dronfield. Do you live in Sheffield or just at Uni there? Was just about to order my SBD goodies then had the overtime knocked off at work so I'm a good £90 a week worse off now. Better just hang on to the cash for a while methinks!

Anyway sorry to hear bout your motor getting nicked and also sorry to Tom for hijacking your thread. I'll have to come and look at yours Tom when you get throttle bodies n Megasquirt all sorted n you can point me in the right direction if i've not gone for SBD by then
