No I meant to put seat, the engine has been taken out, and put on the passenger seat! The thing is its not even dirty, and its complete, so no water inside or anything, it looked really low milage too.....waste of an engine!!

That looks sweet Tom. Definitely a conversion I am looking at when 1275 gets tired. How much do you reckon it cost for mechanicals? Did you use Allspeed seeing as its nearly next door?

Edit: Just read through whole of topic. Phew. Questions answered.

Sorry Chris only just noticed your message!

Yes there are many plans afoot for this winter - 16V is one of them, including more than likely another bare-shell strip down and rebuild again in possibly a different colour :D

We shall see though - and yeah feel free to ask questions etc I'll do my best to help!

Is it going back the original colour or somthing more bold :D

I shall ask questions when the guy decides if he is doing this or not... keeps changing his mind :(

Not sure on the colour yet, I'm undecided as to whether to go for the original bronze (as in the pictures above), or whether to stick with the purple theme but improve on the quality and presentation!

Just give me a shout if you need any help then :D

It'll be attending Castle Combe at the end of this month and then once its home I reckon I'll get straight on with the strip-down, get the engine gone to its new home and then get cracking with the work that needs to be done to get the 16V alive and kicking :D Should be a nice winter project really, nothing too major but more of a refresh and upgrade of things like the wiring and a general tidy up :(

Sounds excellent Tom, I assume you can use the same subframe etc. when upgrading to the 16v motor?

The block is the same, therefore all engine mounts etc are also the same. As Mike says, the head is different, as are the pistons. If the pistons were the same it'd be great to be able to just get hold of a 16V head and keep the block etc in situ, but its not

I'll try to keep this updated as I make progress, but first things first its Castle Combe :mrcool:

I guess the crowns of the pistons are relieved to suit the valves? Nowt a hammer and chisel wouldn't sort!

Lol, yeah I'm sure I could do something with the 8V block! Although if I did balls it up it would probably make selling it on a teeny bit difficult

Maybe I should just do what everyone else does and attack the pistons with a dremel :mrcool:

Could take the 'street' approach.

4 head gaskets and an electric supercharger!

Seriously though, I find it hard to believe that you want to do more bodywork on it. From what I saw it was mint as it is Tom!
