Bugger, only just noticed the questions sorry!

I'll start with the grin factor - all I can say is f**k yes!! It makes me grin much more than any A-Series did - and mine's only a 1.6 8V!

Brakes are absolutely spot-on, I had no problems on the 'Ring at all, even with me being scared and braking pretty much all the time :w00t: I've never intentionally had a servo on a Mini (only my Cooper had a servo and I didn't like it), I don't think they need one.

I'd imagine you'd get away with having a turbo box, depending on its position, but I can provide you with the positioning of the box in the bulkhead if you needed.

Marc - you'll get a drive, don't worry!

When the 16V conversion takes place, which I reckon will be the winter 2007/08 then of course the 8V engine and gearbox will be offered to the highest bidder :w00t:

I haven't done a thing apart from fit a black rocker cover, but there's plenty still to do so it'll keep me busy :proud:

Thanks Tom, you've just about convinced me! My plan is to get it all running and looking good with my 1275 in it, then get the vauxhall in it as soon as I can afford the brakes, subframe etc. Or if your's comes up for sale before that, then who knows. I'd bet money on you doing yet another last minute dash for next years BH2N to get the 16v in! If you could sort some dimensions out for the bulkhead box, that'd be great. I could weld it in now, then the vauxhall should just swing straight in without having to do any welding. Cheers mate.

Hi Tom, a real inspirational thread, I wish I had your drive and energy, I was the same as you, one drive of Rob's car and I was sold on the idea.

I best get my finger out and make it happen.

Looks like a nice tidy C16SE engine you've got there! Mine was filthy and needed a lot of work to get it up to scratch. I take it you're converting the kit car (can't tell what make it is!)??

Oh, I notice you're in the Peak District, whereabouts are you?

Hi Tom, The engine cleaned up really well, the head-gasket needs doing the same as yours, seeing your engine made me realise how tidy mine was, yours sure was rusty.

The car is a Midas, it's mini based, I have three of them, I'm planning on putting it in my older one first, and then hopefully do the others, although doing just one is taking a rather long time, but things are moving forwards slowly.

It's looking very likely I'll have to do some body mods to the bonnet and headlight, I think it will be just a few millimetres on the wrong side of going straight in, I'll also have to lower the car over the engine and subframe, no way it's going in from the top.

I'm in Chapel, guessing your in south Derbyshire, one thing that really would spur me on would be a ride in your car, it's about 16 months since I had that short drive in Rob's car.

This is the car it's hopefully going in.

Stuart.

I was wondering how you'd get the engine through the bonnet last night actually :-

I'm just south of Matlock, so not too far, and it'd be a great drive up to see you too, drop me a PM if you want!

The Midas looks brilliant, would be very nice to see one converted!

I went out in this on monday! At last! lol, very nice, cant wait to get mine done, one day. Bought his spare 'box so i have the choice of 2 different ratio box's.

Thanks again Tom.

Also, can you measure something on yours for me please? I need to mount up my flip front, can you measure from the top of the subframe, where the front cross member mounts to upto the underneath of your bonnet (with its closed!). Just so i can get the height right as i cant think of another way of doing it. I'll probably ring you soon anyway.
