That'd be quite tempting!! When is it?

Marc - I'll help you when I get back!! You should aim to have it finished before christmas :1eye:

Tim (Flappyplasticbits) came round yesterday and we sorted out the speedo sensor on the rear drum, and he also removed a really annoying lug on the gearbox that was causing all sorts of nasty vibrations - cheers dude!!

Just got a couple of little bits to finish off today, then I'm going to give it a wash and a polish ready for Germany :- Can't wait!!

Well it got me there and back - again! :proud:

There's a few teething problems - a couple of oil leaks which are quite annoying, they're definitely from the engine but I'm not sure where - first thing is going to be a new sump and sump gasket, as the original one is quite damaged - probably not helping matters.

Its also smoking on the over-run and when down changing, however its smoke-free under power so I think the valve stem oil seals are going to need doing. When I take the head off to do that I think i'll take the opportunity to fit a mild cam in there too, we'll see though.

At the hotel on the way home I had quite a serious coolant leak, turns out the weight of the fan on its small supporting lugs (which anchor through the fins of the rad) had worn through one of the waterways, however the leak only showed itself when the engine had stopped. Luckily a bodge with some araldite and a bottle of radweld sorted it.

I'm having intermittent problems with the throttle sticking closed, I think this is just junk in the throttle body so easily sorted. I'm also getting a sticky clutch which is to do with the re-designed pedal, so I need to sort that.

I've also decided (after a lengthy discussion with Sam) to do away with the 'Clubman 1293' stripes, but not fit any new ones. 'Clubman 1598' doesn't seem right to me, so I think I'll leave it stripe-free, for the time being anyway.

Oh yeah, and I'm also going to start building the centre console to cover the Vauxhall shifter unit, I'm going to try to incorporate a couple of 12V sockets in there too, for charging phones etc, I might also fit a couple of courtesy lights down in the footwell too, I think that would add a nice touch. We'll see though!

Anyway, thats enough to be going on with.

I'm really thinking hard about doing this in my van, so I've got a few questions...
Where do you get the box for the bulkhead? mine alreay has a turbo box, will this be enough for the gearbox to clear or will I have to put another in?
Does it create as big a grin factor as an a series?
What is braking like without a servo? I've seen one 8v with a mini servo shoehorned in as well, it just looked like there was way too much stuff in there.
Finally I've seen you say you're planning on doing a 16v, could I have first refusal on the engine? :-*
Thanks

The box for the bulkhead is part of the kit from allspeed, can be bought seperate or you could make your own. As for the turbo box, i dont know as i've never seen one.

I drove the allspeed equinox and that doesnt have a servo, brakes seemed fine during normal driving, dont know about under racier conditions but i think they should cope fine, i'm going to be using metro turbo discs/callipers without a servo so i'll see.

I keep seeing you driving around in it Tom, wheres my drive!!!!! Lol.

After being in it, Toms brakes have more than enough stopping power without using too much force! The mini servos arn't really that affective anyway!
Iv run my 1330 on the Nurburgring without a servo at it was fine!
