Thanks for all the comments everyone, like I said before, it really does make it all worthwhile! I really LOVE driving it now, whereas with the 1293 it was hard work, trying to get the most out of the engine without thrashing it. In this the torque comes in bucketfuls from 1000 rpm, and the noise and the speed is just immense. I keep telling myself its only a 1.6 8V, but the look on the face of the CTR driver earlier on proved the performance is a bit special! 1.6 16V on throttle bodies to follow within the next couple of years though, 160bhp 140lb ft mmmm
Anyway, a couple more pics of it finished (just not washed or polished yet!) for you to peruse:
Tim, not doing much this sunday, text me if you fancy meeting up!
(oh yeah, and on private land earlier I got 90mph in 5th at 4000 rpm, eeek!)

I'll look forward to seeing this again as it was nice with the normal a-series lump now it's a bit more "interesting"
Just a couple of questions if you could indulge me, Does the bonnet always sit like that or is it just "popped" in that photo?
Also the ride looks a little high to me? Am i on drugs?
But one thing you know it's only a matter of time before you get used to that engine and start hankering for more power..........

A quick question from me also. The upgrade to 16V, is that just a change of head, or another engine swap?
best bet is and engine swap , as the pistons have cut outs for valves etc , allot easier to just swap the engine.
did you use the F15W in the end mate ?

Jammy - the 16V is best done by just fitting an X16XE complete engine, as Matt says the pistons are right etc. The engine mountings are exactly the same though so it should go straight in with no worries - apart from the wiring and fuel delivery etc....
Matt - Yes I've used the F15W - its a bit noisy but it should be ok I reckon.
Tom - yeah I'm pretty chuffed, just want to get out and use it!!!
Thanks for the kind comments everyone!

I was wondering if it would be possible to do a "How To" guide, ie; what parts are needed, average cost, parts suppliers, etc.
This would definately help a few of us later on when we decide to do our own conversions.
Ta much, Gary
P.S. The Mini looks FUC**NG awsome, well done mate
