Now I'm a happy chappy, just got a quote for insurance (which I was too frightened to do before!), from Miniworld, fully comp, £6k agreed value, 6000 limited miles, European cover and European breakdown cover, legal protection etc etc, £419!!!!! With all the mods declared this time :w00t:

So thats nice.

Oh yeah, I've had 3 deliveries of silicon hoses today, and the alternator brackets/tensioner should be ready pretty soon, so I'm still hoping for an MOT next saturday :w00t:

More pics soon. This weekend is the wiring and interior weekend then its all but done.

Don't worry Marc, you tried and that was good of you!!

I made a mock-up of what the engine bay's going to look like, although I hope it'll be a bit cleaner than this, I don't like messy wiring!! But this gives an idea:

And ooooh look, pretty things :ermm: :

The aim for this weekend is to get the wiring completed and the dashboard in and functional, and get the cooling system plumbed in, heater mounted and working properly. Then all I need to do is the interior, fit the alternator and set the suspension up. Oh yeah, and get it running ;D

Anyway, this weekend I was quite busy, I don't know what fitting a 2L 16V engine is like, because a 1.6 8V is bad enough!:

When we did my mates 16valver, we made up two metal brackets that bolted in under the bolts in each corner at the top front of the engine. We then welded a bar across the brackets and then welded a hoop onto that. You can then put the hook from your hoist straight through your hoop. (oh er missus). When lifted the engine tilted back and helped with clearing the gear box. I'll try find a pic. it may be worth making one for when you remove it. Or flip front it.

... and well done on the progress by the way!

Got loads more done this weekend, the engine is pretty much plumbed in and sorted, and the wiring organised and tidy. Got a driveshaft fitted, and loads more done but can't remember it all:

God, the hoses! I got them from 2 suppliers in the end, Mocal and siliconhoses.com. I ended up making a big long list of everything I needed and ordering them all seperately. It was expensive but they look nice and should last a good long time!!

No worries about the questions, I know what its like as I had loads too!!

Oh yeah, should also mention that my Clubby was originally a bronze 1098, and is on an 'S' plate!!!

You can indeed have a ride, this is assuming everything works ok with it!!! Old engine is done and gone, I believe Leonard from here has the gearbox, the head is on my mates 1340 Moke, and the lovely block and crank is sat in someones shed waiting to be fitted I think!!
