Re: the paint - its actually Hammerite Radiator Paint! Go to any Homebase store and they can mix it in any shade of Dulux paint (the dude who worked there didn't actually know they could, but Rob3 did some quick computer education with him, and hey presto! purple engine paint!). So much harder wearing than the original paint (I've an idea it was a rattle-can job on the block, it went rusty that fast and came of with the merest whiff of a wire brush).
And yeah, thats my other half, she was trying to hide but I still caught her
Oh, and my stainless braided oil cooler hoses are done - and don't ask why but the engine is coming out again very quickly on friday to solve my paranoia about something, it'll have a bit more of a tittivate then, and then its back in in time for the MF rolling road day at Morspeed on saturday!

Twin carbs won't be on - they're all built and ready to fit but I'm taking it to AC Dodd for the set-up and leaving it until after the Riv Run.

Everything is on now, oil cooler plumbed up, thermostatic plate working, KAD calipers working lovely, engine steadies keeping it all in place, twins sat on the bench waiting to go on, KC ITG filters and stub stacks in the post, electric fan with switch working, chav mesh doing its job stopping stones wrecking the cooler....all good!
I'll say again that its now finished for a while, but you know thats not the case....something else is bound to turn up

And today it went on the rollers at Morspeed! MF were having a rolling road day so I toddled along with them (where were you m3ntalist?!), did quite well really. It looks like Peter Baldwins rollers weren't lying after all:
83bhp @ the wheels at 6000rpm, and max 73.5lbft torque at the wheels at 5500rpm. Bearing in mind its a s/c box power losses aren't going to be as bad as helical boxes, but the operator said the sticky A032R tyres might have made a bit of a difference, I reckon thats something in the region of 100bhp at the flywheel. Which for a diddy old 1293 aint too bad at all! Hopefully with the twin HS4's and stub stacks it might improve the torque figure, and possibly lower the power band a bit, we'll see. Another pic of it on the rollers:
Am thinking the words 'Eaton' for the next modification......
