Also those drop gears :-

Right, well today I fitted some stuff, which was quite nice as its better than taking things apart!

The first thing I did was remove the L/H hub unit, remove the caliper, drive flange and disc, and fit a new CV boot (which it didn't need but I thought whilst it was off I might as well do it!). Then I drilled out my new drive flanges (uprated ones from Minispares) from 3/8" to 10mm, which is required to fit the KAD 7.9" vented discs.

I greased up the wheel bearings and fitted the disc and drive flange to the hub:

Then I fitted the new 4-pot full alloy KAD caliper to the hub, the brake hose to the caliper, the hub to the car, and the brake hose to the subframe. Pretty.....:D

Then I did the same to the other side, and it now looks like this:

Now I've got to do some cleaning up in the engine bay, spend some time removing the overspray from the paintjob, paint the engine, get the gearbox fixed, fit various other new bits, and jobs a good'un :D

The old 4 pots nearly put my head through the windscreen on the way back from the ring. I dread to think what KAD's with stickier rubber is going to do to your bodies internal organs.

I also remember you saying that you didnt need ajustable shock absorbers and the spax uprated ones were enough... he he

*GRIN* They are a great braking system! I had to stop rather sharpish coming up to a mini roundabout at lunch today and I could feel the back beginning to lift, which is a feat considering 1. The tyres I have, 2. The amount of C**p in my boot and 3. I was on a gravely road!

Without locking?? Sounds interesting? to get the rears to almost lift in those circumstance you'd expect the front to lock way before that happening?? Or am i missing something?? ;D

I don't think I got the back tyres off the ground, but I think they were quite high up, that was before the front wheels skidded a fraction. But it was fairly smooth progressive braking, which may of helped the fronts to not lock up?

Not accusing you of lying. just seemed a little od that a car without abs on a gravelly road with ropey tyres could get enough stopping power to the road to lift the rears without locking the fronts first.

I could be wrong as I think we've seen before :P

Anyhoo nice brakes! ;D

Well, its that new yellow rough tarmac they are putting down at junctions etc, not as smooth or stone free as some tarmac, and I have Yoko A008s, so they are good, but not nearly as good as my old A032Rs!
