Looks good,

Can i ask one thing? how wide are your wheels and do the A032Rs look a little stretched? (im unsure on mine if they are stretched or not)

I believe Toms are 10x5, May be wrong though!

Looks beautiful! Nice work

Is that inside where the tire sits? or total width?

Yeah they're 10x5's. Thats measured from rim edge to rim edge, not the tyre width. The tyres don't look at all stretched, they fit on just right

If its total width, that means my wellers are 7" wide :erm:
internal width where the tyre sits is 6"

here's the tyres, they're not stretched onto the rim.

I think a lot of Weller's were 10x6.

no not excessively, I've seen A008's fitted onto 10x7's and they did look stretched, but yours look fine.

Cheers Rob and Mark - its great to hear positive comments :ermm:

Anyway, I'm doing a bit more to it this week.

Since Morspeed built the gearbox there's been a problem engaging first gear, basically the baulk ring isn't doing its job properly so it crunches unless you double de-clutch, or engage another gear when stationary.

So the engine is coming out hopefully on wednesday, and I'll be splitting the engine/box and doing some fiddling with the car.

I'm going to whip the head off and check the bores etc, and replace the head gasket, I'm going to fit a new clutch (if necessary, I've a feeling the one fitted is reaching the end of its life!), and I've just bought an X-pin diff as I'm a paranoid individual so a proper diff would be good!

Its having new pot joints, 2 new OE CV boots, new oil pump, an electric fan, a re-paint of the engine and general tart up under there (silicon hoses and some other stuff) - which should hopefully mean it'll look good under there for longer (when I built it it in August it was all slightly rushed so things are beginning to look a bit tatty after a few winter drives).

I've also just bought some new KAD alloy 4-pot calipers to replace my Minispares ones, as the KAD ones are designed to fit 7.9" vented, grooved and drilled discs, which I've a feeling will be useful with the trackdays I plan to do this summer, as well as the Nurburgring which it looks like I'll be visiting twice!

I'll try to get a few pics if I can as I'm doing it...

He he sounds good to me. Cant wait to see the tart up, although i like the looks of the engine like it is, shows its a worker not a shower if you get my drift, still a good tart cant hurt anyone :ermm: Also remember to ask morspeed about repairing your box as its under a year old still.

by the way

Tom if you sell your 4pots give me a pm :genius: I maybe intrested in them.

Oh yeah I'm taking the 'box to Morspeed, he said if all the solutions he suggested didn't work (mainly adjusting the clutch!) then whip the 'box off and take it down to him.

The 4-pots will also be offered with some 7.5" discs and most importantly the Cooper 'S' drive flanges to convert standard 8.4 hubs to run 7.5" discs - and they do work really well, I just want some more bling :ermm:

Right, I've spent most of today in the garage, sorting the car out. Finally got the engine out:

Then got the flywheel etc off, mmmm, straight cut drop gears:

Posted Image

Then split the engine and box, and whipped the head off. Turns out the engine has 21253 +0.20" pistons (which is good! :- ), a wedged, bladed crank, centre main strap, and all the bits I paid for, which is also good!

Have found out why first gear crunches - you can't see in this pic, but the baulk ring is completely shot, which to be honest I'm very surprised about, as the engine has done it from new. But never mind, all will be sorted soon:

I've got loads of shiny bits to go on, and I've also got another shopping list of stuff I need to buy, all of which should make a difference. Thanks very much to Rob3 too, he kept me company all afternoon and gave advice/encouragement/kick up the arse when needed!

More updates soon!
