Tonight's efforts, excuse the state of the car, it rained the last time I drove it and it didn't get washed before I put it back in the garage, plus my uncle has been cutting tiles and plasterboard so the car is covered in all the crap from that, no idea why he chose to cut them in my Grans garage when he could have done them at home! (thanks a lot!)
Anyway, got the foam strip fitted, needs a tiny bit adjustment I've just noticed.
Before, you can see where the welds weren't ground down, something which I asked to be done but never mind, and where the bonnet has been vibrating against.
After, just needs a bit of rubber dressing on it to make it shiny, tidies it up a bit, bonnet shuts with a nice dull thud and doesn't vibrate any more.
Then I fitted the brake servo tag
Before
After
Then the slam panel stickers. In case you're wondering about the dodgy paint finish on the slam panel, that was because I left some masking tape on there for 2 weeks and it left a mark on the paint, going to have to try and get it off some how, I did try once to get it off but so far no luck, any ideas anyone?

Tonight's remedial task, something that has only taken 2 years to get round to doing...
I no longer have 2 holes in the front of the bonnet where the standard Mini badge should be!
No other progress with the car yet though, looking to make a start on the other thing I've been saying I'll sort for a couple of years... Electric windows! So might whip the doors off one night and do them in the comfort of the living room. (not that my mother will be happy about that!)

Nah, it's only really for weekend/good weather use now, it used to be my daily drive years back but not now. The underside needs waxoiled still, but it's not of major importance at the minute, as soon as the gritters came out, the car went away so no real rush. In fact, Jimmy from Mac's Mini said for me to take it round when it was back on the road to have it done, but I've never had the time to go. Wonder if he'll still do it for me?

This is why I'll have it replaced, this was the state it was in when I last removed it...
It bugs the life out of me knowing what poor condition it's in too.
Also, I noticed the the thremostat housing looks a little ropey, it's starting to corrode and the paint is flaking off, so treat myself to a new black anodised bilet one from DSN...
That should tidy up the 'bay nicely
Moving on to the interior, I'm on the lookout for a set of walnut door opening handles, I missed a set on ebay and new ones from Mini Spares are £50~ a pair. So if anyone knows some for sale, let me know!
As previously mentioned, I'm changing the heater controls to the rotary one instead of the standard push/pull effort, so I'm going to change the front part of the centre console to accommodate the rotary control below the vents with a new fascia from custom consoles if they sell the bits separately..
How the curved one looks fitted, (mine will be black again, or maybe even walnut to match the dash, not sure yet)
Obviously, where the cigarette lighter is, it will be the heater dial.
With the push/pull heater control out of the way, and now needing to find somewhere to mount the cigarette lighter, I have bought one of these...

I'm going to spray it or cover it black so it blends in as I'm not keen on how shiny it is. I'm also going to have it mounted with the lighter on the right so I don't need to mess about moving the choke cable.
So if they arrive this week, I might get cracking with it at the weekend.

Where did you get this?
Im not copying you again..........honest
Engine bay does look great though. About the Rad, I think an Alloy one would look great to go with that polished rocker box.

As for the HT lead clamp, it was in the box of HT leads from Halfords, (CVH Fiesta ones) I just drilled a small hole through it and the rocker cover and used a small self tapping screw.
