Well everything is now sorted with the car, i had a problem with the horn, the new wiring for the steering wheel buttons didn't like the 8 amps the horn needed, so i've had to add a relay to the wiring. Took alot of head scratching to figure out what the problem was.

I also bought a new horn as the one i had was a bit dubious and didn't seem to work very well when i took it off the car when i first started all the work on the car. It's bloody loud too, i love it!

As i was hunting around in the garage, i also found a set of standard tail light lenses as the smoked ones weren't very in keeping with the look of the car, so fitted those.

Anyway, last pics of the car tonight before it's MOT in the morning!

And the bit i'm interested in....

The drive up was awesome, for some reason, it was much more enjoyable than i was expecting! The engine pulled very strong, the gearbox was alright, a bit stiff now and again, but on the whole was fine and pretty damn quick too, much faster than i thought it would have been.

Tuesday can't come quick enough to get the cover note! :D

Cheers, furthest i've been so far, is up to the MOT station and back, about 2 miles in total, although i noticed fuel has started weeping out the fuel gauge sender in the tank, so as long as the fuel is just above the empty mark, it's fine, but that does rule out and decent drive out in the car tonight ;) Might be able to get it looked at on Thursday during the day at Green & White. though, so come the weekend, providing the weathers good, i'll be out in it for a good run out.

Just been out for my first proper drive in the car for 5 years, damn it felt good!

It's over fueling like a *woman of ill repute* and desperatley needs the mixture and timing set up, also needs the fuel tank issue sorted, but it was so good to get back behind the wheel of the car again. I'm glad it's every bit as fun as i remembered it to be.

I took the oppourtunity to get some pics of it too, just stayed local, but there's a big open park that used to be a quarry (Herrington Park - Radio 1 had it's first 'Big Weekend' there a few years back) and it was empty, wasn't ideal as the fog was starting to set in and light fading pretty quick, but still managed to get some half decent ones.

Here are some of them

Got the car booked in for tomorrow to have the fuel sender leak sorted and possibly have the mixture adjusted a bit, then i can fill the tank to the brim and go play over the weekend on some twisty b roads

Used a tripod, 2 pics from the same angle, one with the bonnet up, one down, added the engine pic to the non engine pic using layers on photoshop, then used the blending options to sort of ghost the top image, then erased everything but the engine bay on the new layer, then finally go to flatten image. Simple but effective.

Whislt i'm typing this, i might aswell do a tiny update, go the new bonnet badge through the post today...

Should hide the original bonnet badge mounting points in the bonnet. This one should be mounted using two lugs with metal clips, but as i'm not keen on drilling the new bonnet, i'll chop them off with the dremel and just stick the badge on.

Just got the car back from Green & White, running loads beter, new sender unit in the tank, and more importantly, no leaks. Next job, is to somehow seal up the grommet where the main wiring loom passes through the bulkhead as the grommet has perished and all you can hear is the air filter sucking in air.
