As for when it will be finished, erm, well, the panels are due back this weekend, so when i get the doors on and the rest of te glass in, i can get it up to Green and white to have the engine swapped, brakes and suspension done. Then hopefully, it SHOULD (although sod's law will say different)be ready for an MOT, so i estimate a month or 2......
Famous last words eh!

Rosco - yeah standard 1275, litterally just got back, a lovely 9 1/2hour trip to Birmingham and back, (would have been less, but my sat nav decided to take the long way round!)
Still though, 35mpg in a LWB Vivaro going balls out t 85-90 kph (lol) all the way there and back ain't bad.
I'll get some pics of said engine up later, right now, i needs me something to eat, going all day on just a Ginsters Souther Fried Chicked wrap and a bottle of Ribena isn't good (oh, and a Burger King for breakfast lol)

The engine is in dire need of a degrease and general clean up.
Should wire wool or a scothbrite pad be able to bring this back up?
I think i'll use my original altenator too as mine is a bit tidyer
Hideous rocker cover will be ditched in favour of my wrinkle black one
Recon 'box
I think i'll use the coil off my current engine too as it's brand new, as are the plugs and leads.
Carb looks ok too
So a trip to Halfrauds in the morning to stock up on engine degreaser, wire wool and scotchbrite pads, possibly some engine paint too.
What colour do i do it though?
I was thinking either.
Red block with wrinkle black flywheel housing, starter and altenator.
Gloss black block and silver flywheel housing, altenator etc
or
All wrinkle black with a couple of silver bits like the coil clamp, altenator etc.
Decisions, decisions lol

You know u want to.
Think of the peace of mind, new oil pump, new leak free gaskets (put some sealer on the usual ones), new pot joint seals etc.
And maybe even stick a cam in while you at it.....

So, started with the head, gave that a good clean down with some engine degreaser and various scrubbing brushes, wire wool and scotchbrite pads..
Started putting on the first bit of black on before i remembered to take a pic, but you get the idea of what it came up like.
Got the rest of the front of the engine cleaned up, so painted the oil pipe between the block and the filter housing, the vacum bit (i think) on the top of the distributor and the altenator brackets painted in aluminium high temp. paint. and also the rest of the front of the block painted up
Altenator before
Starter before
Original sticker after a quick rub over with the scotchbrite pad
Once the block had the first coat of paint, i turned my attention to the clutch housing. Took bloody ages to wire brush and scotchbrite that bugger ready for being painted! Only got the 1 pic as i forgot to take some more once it had all been cleaned, this was with a quick pass with the wire brush.
After painting up the cluth housing, starter and altenator.
Gave the coil and the flywheel breather? a quick paint, fitted the coil back on and connected the HT leads
After strugling to get the engine onto the trolley so it could be put in the garage overnight, i was gonna call it a night, but decided to crack on and get the back of the block cleaned up and the manifolds a quick lick to tidy them up, although i have a feeling they will be getting changed anyway.
I have still got to give the back of the clutch housing a quick paint as i seem to have missed that.
I also removed the fuel pump to make sure that worked (Darwen award moment alert) as i was always curious which way mechanical fuel pumps worked, i knew they had a lever on the back whichmoves in time with the engine, however, i didn't really give much thought to there being fuel left inside, i pressed the lever only to get squirted in the face with petrol lol.
That cured my curiosity as to wether or not it worked, so i gave it quick clean down and fitted back on. I was shocked at how much pressure they have to be honest, didn't expect it to be able to fire petrol about 6 foot
So that's about it for now, no doubt there's more pictures later on as i would like to give the carb a good clean.

Headunit itself is a better fit in the Mini that it has been in both of the other car's it's been in, despite there being less space behind the mini dash!!!
Ipod lead in the glovebox
Huzzah! It works!
I've also got a freeview box to put in aswell, but i'm stuck as to where to put the aerial, i was thinking, it should fit behind the numberplate quite nice, shouldn't block the signal either as when i had it in the Accord, I had it behind the grille and it picked up a signal no problem.
So hopefully, i should be able to have digital radio and digital tv in the Mini sometime soon!
Whilst it was messing round with the dvd player, i thought it would be a good time to fit the ducting that goes fom the dash vents to the A post vent things, i thought i would have to take out the dash to do that, but found out the dash vents are so easy to take out.... Winner!
I also found the missing door check straps, the celvis pins and 1 of the missing front indicators tonight too, so fitted those, wel, not the front indicator yet, gonna have to drill the front panel for that. Incidently, are the holes in the front panel where the indicator goes, supposed to line up with the holes on the indicator backplate? Or is it a case of drilling fresh holes?
