IT'S GONE FOR PAINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woohooo!
Anyway, not alot has really happened on teh car sicne Nov. due to it being far too cold in the garage.
I finished off a couple of bits of wiring that were left, but now i have no sidelights on the front. The tail lights work fine, and i have voltage at the front of the car, but for some reason, when i put a bulb in for the sidelights, the voltage goes to 0, but no fuses are popping so it doesn't look like it's shorting out or anything. I'll have to check behind the dash as i've added a couple of relays etc, but that can wait.
I bought a set of HID headlights for the car in December, but not sure if i'll fit them yet, the may go in my van, i'll have to wait and see....
They seem like a really good quality kit, but i'll need to adjust some of the wiring if i do end up fitting them, as they're set up for a conventional car with the battery under the bonnet.
Also, now the car has gone in for paint, i have time and space to sort through all the bits i've got so i know where everything is for refitting back on the car.
I went down last night to have a check up on how the car's going, it is half way through being prepped, couple of tiny blemishes on the 1/4's filled, a tiny bit of rust sorted round the hole where the tank sticks through, and that was about it. The passenger door that had been reskinned is pretty much ready to go, but the drivers door that has the 50p rust patch needs cut out and replaced, again, not a major job by any means.
I'm going for black car with a black roof again instead of the old english white that i had before, it will help to tone it down a bit and make it look a bit more retro with the mk1 front end.
One thing i have noticed, i bought a set of grp2 arches, but unsure if they will cover my wheels ok, has anybody used sportpack arches with 6x12 and not needed any spacers, or will i need spacers to get it looking right?
That's all for now, i'll try and get some pics of the car next time i'm in so i've got sort of a step by step of the paintjob.

By converting 2 clock to 3 clock, do you mean adding a rev counter?

A sealing coat has been put on the roof so that the new paint doesn't react with the old I've been told the first coat of primer will be on by the end of tonight.
I'm gonna call round tomorrow night and grab a few more pics i think.

As for the headlights, i'm not sure, i might just use halogens for now, then may try an idea i had a while back by finding some projector headlights from another car and seeing how easy it would be making some one off headlights by using the projector part inside a crystal stye headlight

Here's his pics of it as it currently sits...
Also i've been to see a local specialist (Green & White for those that know) about having my 4 pots, hi-lo's and rear brakes sorted, so as soon as the cars painted, it's being shipped off to get that lot done.
I also enquired about engines whilst i was there, the guy said that he can sort me out with a good 1275 with some basic mods complete with a good gearbox for not alot of money so i might get them to do the engine whilst it's in too. I've heard nothing but good things about Green & White's engine builds and i'm sure that anyone that's used them for anything will have nothing but praise for their work.
The way i see it, the gearbox or diff or something was making a very odd sort of whipping/snapping/clunking noise last time i drove it, so if i get the car back on the road and the gearbox or whatever goes, then i'll be annoyed as the car will be back off the road, so i'll take the oppourtunity to get a new engine fitted before it goes for an MOT.

So, from
To
Also, my arches haven't turned up from Wood & Picket that i ordered last Thursday, despite paying the extra for the 24 hour delivery, I'm not impressed as i could do with them being with the car whilst it's being painted!

Had a call from Si yesterday, the car has been lacqured and polished, i'm litterally off over to the garage to empty some bits out of the way as the car is coming back about 10am. I'll take my camera and get some pics.
Will be nice to see if with paint again, will be the first time in about 2-3 years that it's actually had paint on the panels

It's back in my garage now and the paint looks fantastic.
It's amazing how much further the car looks to completion with finally painted, Si is gonna et cracking with the doors boot and bonnet this week too, so i can now start putting everything back together on the ca..
Pics...
The depth of the paint in really good too, i'm really impressed.
One cheeky pic of the new daily drive too...
I think i'll wait until next weekend before i start to put bits back on, it'll help ive the paint time to harden a bit
Next dilema, do i leave the window tints on, or do i bin them?
