Got my remote brake servo from ebay won it for £77 and that was including postage. I think was a bargain as new it would cost £150. Started and finished the pedals with the wilwood brake servo attached. I have also trial fitted the remote brake servo & fitted the seats + welded new/additional cross member in which will hopefully add some more strength, as after chipping all the tar away there was a very floppy mini floor. Amazing wheat a bit of tar... or what looked liked tar can do much more solid now though.

As you see I have removed the rocker cover but i also damaged the rubber seal, so i have ordered a new one as well as the inlet manifold & outlet manifold gaskets.

I managed to replace the water pump and the timing belt this week. I also got some bad news that I cant get the wheels i wanted as there out of stock at the moment  . Today I replaced the two bottom gaskets on the sump and also gave it a clean. it took most of the day but the end product was worth it and it definitely needed cleaning. i also put the front subframe back in to see if the front metalwork I made fits, guess what... it doesn’t and needs modifying :gimme: , but on the bright side the clubman is back on 4 wheels after nearly 3 years and looks.... well ill let u decide!

Well it’s been a while since I last posted my last pictures and nothing has really progressed on the build as much as I would have liked by now. I managed to grab a small alternator off eBay, and I received my DIGIDASH from ETB (http://www.etbinstruments.com/).

I changed the clutch on the car but to be honest it was a cheap and looked nothing as good as the one that was already in, so I will have to see if the clutch lasts. Ordered my SPA mirrors (with free delivery too!) and arrived some months ago now. Very small and just what I wanted.

Whilst at mini in the park I bought some new indicators as the original ones have broke around the steering column. Posted Image
Oh and here is what I want my mini to look like with a few slight changes in style.
Posted Image

So with the front subframe finished I put the engine back in and started to make the new gearlever mounting , needs a slight adjustment but I think it turned out alright.
Posted Image

I have some slight issued with the clearances in cretin areas such as the alternator which even though it is very small, there isn’t much room for adjusting it. It’s also very close to the subframe bolts which I put in while the engine was out and forgot about the alternator belt. Hopefully I can move the engine slightly to the right to miss the bolts.

Posted Image
I have so far been able to retain the exhaust which I must thank the person who designed the clubman for leaving just enough room for the exhaust manifold to pass.
Posted Image
Posted Image
And finally I cut my dash so it now fits over the steering column and round the subframe. There are some areas around the roll cage which needs to be tided up.

Until next time

Regards

Aaron

Decided to clean the carbs and buy some new parts for the seen as tho dellorto now you can order parts from there web site http://www.dellorto.co.uk/. It’s a good job I did decide to take them apart as I found out the previous owner had broke one of the top cover legs and the float fulcrum bar that operate the float mechanism was wedged in the pump housing. The owner had then decided to manufacture another fulcrum bar and fix in place with metal filler (see pic below). The original bar now back inplace but I will have to use the same idea and use the metal filler. I also require some needle valves as can be seen in the photo there ruined. This is a very common problem with the Dellorto carbs so if you intend in buying some second hand DHLA carbs ensure there in good working order before you buy!

Hi Aaron
was just looking at your pedal box looks pretty good..1 thing is how is your clutch....guess it would be very heavy as your cable looks like it's got quite abit of a kink in it the way the cable runs..
also have u any pics of the cable side of your pedal box as i am contemplating making a completely new pedal box of just modify the original 1 just wondering how other people have got round the cable problems

Mark

I don’t have any pictures of the modifying of the clutch pedal assembly I will get next time I am at the garage.

guess it would be very heavy

In fact the opposite but I haven’t had the engine running and tried changing gear yet so I can only wait and see.

Hi,

Im going to modify the existing mini/vaux driveshafts, mini outer and vaux inner to suit existing. If you fancy a round nose I suggest looking here
http://www.16vminicl...i...984&start=0

Excellent read and a great project.

Mark as requested pedal box modification as you can see not finished yet as I am not sure if it’s going to work. I can only test when she’s up and running,
