updates from Saturday

welding of most the subframe finished and looking good just need to put the engine back in and make sure the engine mounts fit ok before I weld em to the subframe.
The most annoying thing about keeping the original front end is trying to lift the engine under the car then dropping the car back down while trying to bolt the subframe up the original mountings. and doing all that by myself is a pain in the :D!

You are so right aaron, and then take pic's and post too. One is very lucky to have friends who have time to help when needed. If you dont do it your self, you have to wait for some one to show up. good job on your sub frame.

Yo everyone!

Seems like the TMF dont like ALT COADS, hence not being able to access my usual handel name (Tango™).
Anyhoo, long time since an update as i have been very busy with work and visiting family in new Zealand! Things seem to have gone very slow. i have ripped the engine mountings to bits again as the engine was not sitting how i wanted it, either to much this way or to much that way, so i just decided to start the mountings again. Still not 100% happy but better that what it was like
enjoy some pics.

Aaron

Updates for this week....

Keep losing out on eBay items for my mini which is really annoying!
Subframe once again removed for welding and hopefully final paint unless I scratch it. While the engine is out I will be making alterations to the front end for the alternator and gear lever. Im thinking of changing the front indicator lights for the round nose mini type and get rid of the standard clubman ones.

List of parts still need to grab on eBay!

1. Bucket seats
2. Wiring loom
3. Fuel tank

list of major parts still need buying overall.

1) Wheels - 7x13 OR 8x13 - Weller wheels
2) Tyres - Yokohama A032 215/50/13 or Yokohama A048R 175/50/13 need to find out if they do A048R in 195s
3) Seats
4) Alloy radiator
5) Digidash
5) Fuel tank
6) Door seals
7) Mirrors
8) Carbon door cards
9) Door handles
10) Steering wheel
11) Wiring loom
12) Paint

I need money :P :P

Just got back for a road trip to Liverpool for some seats for my clubman, also arriving in the post today was some pipercross carb trumpets I won on ebay... whoo
Last weekend i put the engine back into the subframe and covered so I can start sorting the frontend out. Filling and welding holes where the front bumper used to be.

Today’s pics.

Still undecided which indicators looks better, what do you think? yay or nay!

Haven’t done much to the car as I have been too busy with work but last weekend I did make a start on covering the front end with new metal work. Its not how I want it so will be trying to sort it out this weekend. I did spend most of my time last weekend making a base plate for the crabs and the pipercross filter I bought but I don’t know if it will fit as it might foul on the bulkhead metalwork the way the engine is positioned. I also trial fitted my brakes just to see how it would look. I’m hoping that 8.4 and alloy 4pots will help in stopping the clubman and not go into the nearest tree. I also came through on winning in the ebay front as I won a brand new wiring loom for a clubman and bought a wilwood brake master cylinder, I’m also considering using a remote servo anybody fitted one of these? Info would be great. I decided to stick with the clubman front indicators seemed to much hassle to fill in the old holes and position the mini round type.

Next on my shopping list is to try finding an alloy fuel tank, wheels/tyres.

Next on the to do list is finish front end metalwork/finish filling and sanding holes in the front end /trial fit engine (again final time before I remove to paint and put new timing belt and water pump) fit brake mast cylinder to the pedal box/ mount gear changer bracket/finish roll cage door bars/trial fit the seats/weld seatbelt rear strap into boot/ finish welding and filling doors/try start engine.

And the list does goon! That’s just the list of the top of my head.

Hopefully more so show this weekend if not sorry guys but you will have to wait.

Thanks

Aaron :-
