Quite honestly, ANYTHING is better than the standard ones. You need to measure the depth of the speaker and the diameter, it will be something like two inch deep, I can't remember the diameter, something like 4.5" or 5", then go to your local halfords and find some suitable speakers, any make will do, but generally keep with the good names: JL, Pioneer, Sony, Etc etc.

**edit, TMF has a specific Forum along with the Techincal and styling sections for ICE related questions, you will generally get much faster and often more informed answers from posting your query in the relevent section

It may differ depending on the age of mini but my speaker holes are 13 cms wide.

Have a look on Car Audio Direct. Pioneer, Alpine, and Vibe are good speakers, which I recommend.

theyr 4 screw fitting and all 13cm coaxials would wire straight into the parcel shelf holes although it is possible to fit 17cms (i ahve them) but a little harder as u need a small raised lip to raise the woofer out the way.

I have some sony 2ways for sale if you want - along with some tweeters that u can fit up front.

As for the amp question - depends how much u want to turn it up really - yo'll find they distort at about the same level but your new ones will probably be better at the whole range of frequencies.
