Only once in the mini learnt my lesson after that (dont drive fast in the rain with big fat 13s and 008s)

I had 13x6" wheels on my old Cooper, and ran it reeeeally low (shocks had barely any travel). Certainly too low really, but I soon learned to drive carefully in the wet!! Bridgestones are much better than Yoko A008's tho - they feel like slicks in the wet, I certainly skidded the pants once or twice with those on!

O/T, but my Pug is bad for it.

Minis on wide 13's must be pretty bad for it too, again, it's all down to the tyres.

Yep I have done it as well but not in a car, happened whilst trying to land an aircraft that was pretty scary and defiantly a brown pants moment.

Surely it's a bit like driving in the snow? Just don't fight it and the car will (hopefully) eventually find its feet again. Or its wheels. However you want to think about it. Ahem.

I managed to go very sideways in the snow in a Corsa a few years ago, turning into a side road. Only doing about 10mph and taking the corner very gently, but the whole car slid sideways and almost hit a parked car. Not good. And of course in that situation breaking or accellerating won't make any difference, if anything it will make it worse, the best thing to do is just ride it out and hope you stop in time. I guess the same it true of aquaplaning, though I guess you're more likely to be travelling in a straight line when it happens.

There seems to be several un-experienced or just very, erm, 'out there' (Outlaws reference) people who decide to drive along motorways in conditions under which aquaplaning is possible, whilst breaking the speed limit.

I wouldn't say i was inexperienced Jam. Sometimes you feel the steering go light and back off.

Also since when have you been in wales???
