took Mrs bungle out for a birthday meal tonight over at the mermaid newquay

how was i to know there would be a vw meet there

any way the home trip

got to the roundabout's at the top of porth and the engine died but restarted with in a few minutes

after another 2 miles the red battery light came on lights went dim and the engine started to miss and we came to a stop

i got out a wiggled a few wires thinking battery problem got back in and it started so off we went

about 15 miles later the battery light was back on head lights went dim engine missing and we stop again i still thought it was a battery problem, but when i went to restart the engine the motor turned over (quickly) but would not start, the coil was very hot and smoking and my ignition switch feels very stiff

i think my coils gone the tow truck man thinks its my condenser and the AA man cant find somewhere to plug his computer into

:D

fitted a new coil and ignition switch to my bus and it runs

turned off engine and turned ignition switch on to test voltages at coil and notest the black + wire to the coil is very very hot

now using my electrical mind to get hot it needs to draw lots of current

to draw lots of current you need a big load

the only load is the coil

so wheres the extra load ?

high resistance in the wiring ?

given up on the dodgy electrics and i have started on the body work

the winter plan is to remove the pop top and paint/ polish up the fibre glass, remove the rust from the roof and repaint the roof white

so then today sanded off the crapy blue paint on one side of the roof and treated the surface rust

only problem was the last 10 inches of the roof gutter was rusted away so i dug the welder out and reformed the gutter

next step is to do the same the other side then orider up my rustolem and start rollering

Least with Rats, you polish them with a Scouring pad, rather than a polishing cloth :dontgetit:

Nice Bay you got there Bungle, like it lots.
Also got a VW camper myself but, it's a 1989 T25/T3.
Ain't it good just to get in and go where you like, whenever you like :P

Probably not mate, I'm usually on the Club 80-90 forums and ocassionally on Brickwerks. They are both T25/T3 forums.
