thats the bottom now with 3 coats of hammerite, the hot air pipe back in and insulated and 2 conduits in for wiring + a coat of waxoil

that lot can being left to go hard while we are in spain

then when i come back its rewiring + MOT

things are really coming along now

heater pipes back on and belly pans back

removed the wiring loom back to the fuse box

there's only 1 burnt out cable so i have replaced that

its all fed back through as far as the back axle so far

theres still lots of joins by the back axle and in the engine bay so i might make a rear loom my self and replace this at some point

shouldn't take to long as 1/2 the wires go into the fuse box and the other 1/2 go into a big connector next to the fuses

if all goes well i should have the engine back working buy Monday

i see in the pic you still got the diagnostic block there i usually end up losing them saves a load of wires. Hope you get it back running

yep binned the diagnostic blockblock and now have about 1/2 the wires i started with


i think VW was very a head with a diagnostic port in the early 70's

yeah can be handy for some quick checks means you dont have to crawl all over the car/van to check some things but usually people have disconnected bits and pieces over time so it doesnt have its uses anymore. Yeah you lose so many wires when you remove it makes it look so much tidier too

i suppose its like a old version of code reader type diagnostics?
