i am in the middle of wiring my headlights for my flipfront and am wiring the main and dipped lights. Haynes says that one is a blue/white wire and the other a blue red wire but can anyone tell me which one of those is dipped and which is main beam please before i make a wild guess and connect them up wrong before it gets dark.

Thanks

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

This is what i've been told anyway:-

Wiring connections at the front of the car behind the grille:-

Earth is the Black wires
Sidelights are Red/Red with Green
Headlights are thick Blue with Red
Main Beam thick Blue with White

clubman is slightly different because of the sidelights being below the lights rather than in them!

Clubman or not, I don't believe Lucas changed the basic color codes for high/low beams even between other British makes. Blue/White to the high beams sounds right.

A quick check is to attach a test lamp to your existing Blue/White wire on the car and switch on the ignition and light switch. If your test lamp is on when the dimmer switch turns on the dash high-beam indicator... you've got the right wire.
