Hmmm, just to stir things up a bit... after I wrote my last post I looked up the definition of drifting on Wikipedia (linky), I think this opening paragraph is particularly relevant...
Drifting refers either to a driving technique, or to a sport based on the technique; this article deals primarily with the sport. When the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, and the front wheels are pointed in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right), and the driver is controlling this, the car is drifting.
read a bit found this : FWD cars do not qualify for entrance into D1GP events, nor are they eligible for Formula D events.
also the list of popular and winning cars in pro and non-pro drifting included no FWD cars...and really i can't emphasize enough, they (fwd cars) just slide, same with most rally cars, it's not really drifting.
