G'day.

I seem to be always building these cars but never get a chance to finish them.

I am now in 64 round nose - I was a test for a lot of modifications and trying out different things.

The old car is a 73 van. It had the basic wheel flares on it but I had made a full body kit for it. I had a few weeks off work, so I pulled it off the road to put on the kit and tart it up a bit, then I found a fair bit of rust in the floor, so I quickly finished off the round nose and got that on the road.

Since then, I've replaced nearly all the floor, some production panels, some made by myself. Modified nearly every panel and after a near complete stop after our second kid was born, I am finally getting close to getting ready to paint.

I have spent so much time thinking about and planning this car. I have done everything myself other than tint the windows.

In a nut shell;
De-seamed,
Electric Windows
Roll cage
Changed door handles
Customised door skins from a Hyundai
Steering column from the Hyundai
Dash board from Daihatsu Mira
With the heater (ooh a reasonable heater)
Custom fibreglass bonet with Monaro style forward flutes
Flat bar grill (GM style) with standard light surrounds
Rear spoiler from Daihatsu
Full custom body kit - changing the front skirt though,
Modified petrol tank neck
Petrol tank popper (got rid of the ugly spout sticking out)
Rear slimline LED brake/indicators
Rear seat from Suzuki Siera - Fits beatifully and folds down and then forward - still get the full cargo room.
Cobra racing seats - had to take off about an inch from each side to get reasonable clearance,

There's plenty more, but this is just a nut shell view.

hi, we (me and my dad) drive a 1973 mini 850. stage 1, original engine 63k miles.
it has 13/7 minilites and reaches max speed of 84mph.
fully restored over three years with lots of time and even more money into it.
its had new door skins, boot, bonet, front panel, front/rear valence, inner/outer sills,
wings, a-panels, lcb, alloy inlet, ported/ polished, front discs, seats/ interia, rear light convertors to mk1,
master cylinder (clutch) and slave, Twin tanks, twin carbs and lots more.

we payed £30 3 years ago for it :) But spent almost twentyfold that on it,

we call it sid

What do you think? :P

I recently bought this beauty

It will be a while before I actually drive it though.

The PO cut out most of the front sub-frame to try to put a Suzuki engine in it. By the time he got finished it couldn't stand up.

Since I live in Bolivia, parts are interesting. I have a 1275cc engine and sub-frame coming from Santiago and a whole list of parts coming from the UK, notably a front panel, Stainless grill and mustache, minilites and tires, full brakes including disc conversions and master cyl., wood dash and a bunch more. In the body shop we will flare the fenders after the brakes and wheels get here (June, with luck)

I'm not in a hurry to finish. Maybe a year to 18 months. Hopefully less than the 30 months I took for the Corvair, but then I only do this in my free time, and only spend 40% of my time in the city where I have the car, as I have two offices and homes 700 km apart.

I'll be updating the build site as I go. Have a few dozen pictures up now: Richard's Mini Pickup
