The engine ran and just needed a bit of cleaning up, although my plans are to get something bored and tuned in its place. The arches were replaced, the body sprayed with Black Metallic (one of my favourite songs!) and the roof covered in OEW. Wheels and tyres were brand new on the thing and left as is.
Internally, I've put in a dash - the other woodwork never arrived but will be done. I've got to sort the radio and the gearbox (which is fine but I fight to get reverse). The seats are gorgeous but showing their age. I need to carpet, soundproof and add some chrome bits.
This then leaves me to upgrade the brakes, the suspension and darken the windows before finishing off with a decent pair of speakers. I reckon by the time I've got all that done my kids will have grown up and be wanting the damn thing for themselves!
I took the kids into Kettering today so I could tax it and we came back the long way round, just for the giggle - and tonight as it teamed down with rain, as I couldn't see a thing out of the windscreen, I was having a riot! As much as I'm miffed with the lies and dishonesty of the bloke I contracted to do some stuff, I'm delighted with what I have and what it's going to become.
At heart I'm into bikes and I was only looking for something for the winter months - but it's already got me wondering if I might need to sell one of the bikes to fund the ongoing transformation. I'm hooked.

I only ended up with this because the Ural combination I was buying got sold while I was getting the money from the bank! It's going to be warmer in winter

2004 MCS, most people refer to it as model R53.
and are there any mods done to it ? I bought it new with almost every option they offered, so I'm happy with it just the way it came, the only thing I've done is add a iPod adapter, the kind that employes the usb port (USA Spec) to the CD changer, so all the controls can be manipulated with the steering wheel controls.
Then I dumped the run-flat tires.
Also what are your plans: See how long I can run it for. I ran a 1967 Volvo 140 out to 425,000 miles, we'll see if she can top that.
