I know very little about minis but looking forward to getting it up and running well.
One problem is the heater which isn't working and appears to be connected in a different way to what I have observed before (ie not through the "tap").

A '88 Jet Black. Had several engine swaps, was resprayed in January 2001. It has a 998cc engine with Stage 1 kit, Inox Playmini exhaust, Chrome 13" wheels, MK I grille and soon it will be fitted with black leather CRX seats.
My other Mini is a '68 Tartan Red Austin Countryman, and was imported from the UK!
Sadly it's not a RHD anymore. This mini is awaiting restoration, but I hope to be able to come to the IMM with this Countryman. This one will be restored back to original.
I have owned a '77 Mini Lady (850cc) too. That was a superb Mini, never let me down. She had to go, because of the space I needed. I still regret it every day!!
My mother owns a '98 Mini Classic, a German Limited Edition. It is as original as they come.

hey there, i just joined yesterday. im just in the final stages of my first mini project, quite a task it turned out to be. I had a 1981 mini city E which literally spontaniously combusted whist diving down the road! I had only owned the car for about a month. This happened July 2008. Amazingly the engine and subframes were fine, but the interior was toast! So i removed the front and rear subframes and scrapped the shell. A friend gave me their 1275 auto Mayfair in November 2008. So i went about removing the subframes, along with the automatic, and went about fitting my subframes and manual engine. The whole swapping process took me about 3 weeks, as i'm at uni atm. i also gutted the interior and sold the whole lot including the rear subframe. I am now at the point where i need to weld a few holes in the floor and then i can begin putting in my new interior. I have cobra classic seats with 4 point harnesses, and a custom dash and door cards which i had made from the same material Lamborgini use in their cars, had to get it imported. On the exterior i have got sportspack arches, 7x13 alleycats, and a fibreglass flipfront. I've also fitted a freeflow manifold, 2" centre exit maniflow exhaust and a performance air filter. i would put up some pics but dont know how.
I am sorry for the essay but i thought i may as well give you all the info!

Hi Tom
I,m the same as you mate not experienced enough to know what to do next .just brought a 998 auto Mayfair. Got it through MOT had inner sills repaired and some electrical faults but apart from that it went through.
I have put a Mountney steering wheel and superlite alloys. The guy i got the alloys off told me they would go straight on mine but when i fitted them they catch on the wheel arches. They are 165 70 12 and i am a little confused.

I'm still on my second mini (though I have owned a total of 3 now) and was a 998cc standard with all drums brakes and a lovely (hideous) blue interior, which will soon be a disk braked 1275 with 13x7 starmags and even more stickers on than you can shake a hat at!

Our car is a 1967-68 Austin Mini, RHD. It is a MKI made to be sold in '67 but not sold until '68, thus it is registered as a '68. Not sure when it was imported from England but the history we have on it was that it was owned and driven by a man in Virginia prior to our buying it. We bought it in North Carolina where we were living at the time.
Originally, when we bought the car, it had a 998cc engine with pos. ground, drum brakes and 10 inch rims. At that time it was all torn apart and in boxes. It has been upgraded to a 1275cc engine, 8.4 inch front disks, negative ground with alternator, 12 inch "minilite" rims and very comfortable Nissan 300 ZX front seats. I was forced to change the suspension from wet to dry. I did the mechanical work and Jenny did the interior. I also ripped out the wiring and put in a generic harness. Well worth the work. The headlights are bright.
We are now in Tucson where we are members of a local Mini club, www.dynamicminicollective.org. A bunch of great people who get together a lot to socialize. My other car love are from the German company, Opel.

most customer apart from engine hich is strd 1275cc not bad atm. custom green paint on roof and on revolite wheels and a white gloss paint for all the body.
when my insurance allows, i will invest in 1.6 vtec
but not sure if more money would be spent on selling my car and buying a different mini with vtec. Or install it into mine any tips??
