Hi there
I'm Dominic, 18, and from the hull area. I'm relatively new to all this forum stuff but have loved minis since i can remember.
I have a 1974 mini 1000 in tundra green almost complete from restoration and i have a 1973 mini clubman with mg metro engine fitted waiting for restoration.
The 1000 has had a long drawn out resto done due to lack of money really and short of time. It was started of march 06 after i got it for my birthday. All rust has been replaced and got rid of and its as solid as can be. its got a rally theme to it and when complete should look the dog *man danglies*. It currently has: just been painted with a cage fitted, stripped out interior, fuel and brake lines running inside car, battery lead inside car, nice switch console (not over the top, just the bare essentials in a simple alloy plate), de-bumpered front and rear, mk1 grill (no mustache surround!), etc. When completed it will have: 10x6 weller steels, group 2 arches, spot lights, fiberglass doors and corbeau fonza buckets.
The clubman is going to go down the similar kinda road as a fast road rally car. It will have a big beefy engine and the stripped out rally look. Its currently tucked up in the corner of our workshop looking a bit sorry for its poor self with fair bit of rust knocking about and has received a slight rear shunt in its previous life.
Hopefully the mini 1000 will be finished in the early new year and i will look forwards to seeing all of you at the 50th celebrations.

Hope you like my minis

All the best, Dominic

I'm ellie, drive a 1275 gt
completely standard, got it from my gran last year who bought it new in '76.
The only mods are w+p bars, arches, motolita steering wheel, with 1275 boss from oiginal wheel and centre consol, all these from new.
to upgrade i have put a cd player in it, but i will be hiding it it and replacing the gap with an a-track player for originality. replaced the parcel shelf speakers with new kenwoods 6" but under the original speaker plates and also stealth 6x9's under the seats with acoustic carpet over.
I plan on keeping it as original as it was when my gran bought it.

Because i want a project that i can costomise i will be buying an elf/hornet sometime in the new year. :shifty: x

Hey, I'm alastair.
I have a 1991 mini neon in kawasaki green with a (+0.0040) 1310cc metro bloc, with fully balanced bottom end, new mains and bearings throughout, ground crank, reglazed bores, 266 cam, duplex vernier timing gear.

Stage 2 head crack tested and skimmed with triple valve seats, doubles springs etc. HIFF 44 carb on a torquemaster manifold, KAD quickshift. LCB with twin DTM exhaust single box system. De-seamed apart from the roof (i think it doesnt look right without the roof seem... seems bald!)

Bespoke interior including headling, gaiters, boot lining kit with hidden compartment and arch covers etc. Cooper spi half leather seats front and rear, Astrali steering wheel, running on 12 x 6" superlights and yoko A539's. This is my everyday car hence why there isn't a 286scatter cam and a 1380 in it!

Hi, I am in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA. My Mini has been off the road for 17 years and I am finally going to put it back together. The setup starts with a 1969 de-seamed Mark I with all new body panels where needed with an ERA Turbo body kit from 1990. I am converting to inside hinges on the doors to allow the arch flares to not interfer with the external hinges.

The car has 10.5" front disks with Wilwood 4 piston DynaLite sprint car calipers with standard mini brakes with Minifin drums in the rear. The wheels are 13" Pontiac Sunbird wheels with 175/50VR13 Pirelli P7s. A Hi-Lo kit is currently on the car, but it is getting a set of Spax coilovers. The steering is being converted to RH Drive since the rack is trashed and I figure if I get hit head-on, there will be a chance of an open casket funeral since I will be on the Passenger Side of the car driving in the US. It will also get a full cage and 4 point seat belts.

The motor is a beast. It has 1.44" intakes and 1.25" exhausts all Rimflow with the exhausts offset 0.035". It has Dual Isky Springs and Isky lifters. The roller rockers are 1.5 ratio Titans...I used 1.7s on the last motor and the #4 piston out ran the exhaust valve...not a pretty site. The motor is offset bored 0.015" and has 73.5mm Omega 7cc dish pistons. The rods are lightened, balanced and shot peened. The crank is an EN40B cross drilled nitrided radius crank. It has a center main strap, but I am thinking about a center 4 bolt main. The cam will be a Piper 285 or something in that range with about 11-12:1 compression ratio. The carb is a Weber 45DCOE on a 5" manifold running velocity stacks and a K&N filter. It has a Kent vernier cam drive. The motor is decked and balanced to 0.1 gms. It has a 4 row radiator and a 13 row oil cooler with a remote filter. The alternator is a 65 amp unit off of a Hyundai.

I haven't determined the transmission setup yet, but it will probably have straight cut drop an transmission gears with a limited slip differentiial running 3.44 ratio output gears. The transmission is a remote shift and I would like to convert it from the pot type inner shaft joints to the cv joint, but am not sure if that is possble.

That is most of the plan. The car has been off the road for 17 years while my balls grew back. It broke my heart...and my wallet when the last engine exploded. With about 115 HP and the giant brakes it was faster than hell and stopped on a dime....should do better now.

Hi everyone, my names jake and im from robin hood country!! (nottinghamshire!)
i'm 23 and have 2 very cool cars my day to day drive is:

-a 2002 BMW Cooper S (163bhp) i have had a 230bhp tunning kit fitted with K&N typhoon intake system, 15% reduced pulley & stickier belt raising boost pressure to 15psi, Re-map w/raised rev limiter to 7450rpm and a very mild cam. i have ran this car to a 14.9 second 1/4 mile at santa pod (quicker than a works GP! i have also uprated the disc's and fitted a boost pressure guage and a strut brace.

my pride and joy tho is a 2001 Y plated rover cooper sportspack, which i recieved for my 18th birthday!!!
in 2004 i had my car to the stunning cooper works garage and had the 90 bhp (wink!!) kit fitted.

then because rover cant build cars the rot set in (bad times!!!)
so for the last 2 years its been in a blokes garage being pretty much fully hand built, the spec when its complete is as follows:

PERFORMANCE!!!!

-John cooper works 90bhp tunning kit (stage 3 head, 1.5,1 roller tipped rocker, exhaust & manifold, performance inlet manifold, sparkplugs)
-fitted an SW5 profile camshaft but removed it because of fueling issues have now had a mini speed fast road cam fitted
-double valve spring set + new followers
-10 row oil cooler w/smaller filter, braided hoses etc
-vernier duplex timing chain
-73.5mm omega pistons
-over bored block
-84mm stroke ni-tempered, wedge bladded crankshaft
-burlen throttle body54mm
-ignition leads
-SC/CR gears
-3.2-1 final drive 108mph @ 6000RPM!!!!!!
-drop gears
-new clutch
-new steering rack
-pipercross induction kit
-quick shift
-gaz fully adjustable coil overs
-EBC grooved & vented discs, standard calipers w/green stuff pads
-twin fuel tank

EXTERIOR!!!

-bodywork fully de-seamed except roof
-de-bumpered
-wheel arches modified to get rid of the bumps & dints where the bumpers & seams dropped in!
-fog light moved and fabricated into the bum of the car!!!
-bodywork in RED
-roof in silver
-sports pack wheel arches in silver
-bonnet in silver (cooper stripes removed because too many people use them on cars that arent cooper!!)
-Fog light has been fabricated into the back bumper/metalwork

INTERIOR!!!

-standard black/silver milenium edition sports pack interior
-show cage
-dvd player
-speakers uprated + re-wired
-center console & arm rest to match the seats

it's not finished yet but what done so far is stunning!!!
will also be fitting a set of yoko A048R's and possibly some light weight satin black alloys 13" x 7"
and maybe some serious bucket/harnesses & a proper bolt in/weld in cage!!!

will be having a new injection system fitted when he's done!!!
hoping for around 120bhp maybe more!!!!

i have my photo's at http://www.theminifo...howtopic=107900

Hi, I'm Gareth and I have an '02 Mini One in yellow.

It wasn't my choice of car, I got it through pure chance but I love it!

It needs bodywork as the previous (female) owner knocked it quite a bit (I'll post pics tomorrow).

It seems to be the very basic model with only air-con as any "luxury", it has no rev counter or alloys which brings me on to a few questions someone here may be able to answer... Can BMW fit a rev counter? Roughly how much will that cost?

Also... any tips on boosting its performance... cheap but effective?

dunno about the rev counter but a company called lohen do a 130bhp kit and a 140 bhp kit so check out there site there pretty good (one of the best on the new mini tunning side of things!) i dont think you'll get much help on here for them tho because it seems to be a (proper mini site) try mini2???

i'm on that too and its for the new minis

the one engine is the same as the cooper engine but with a different map from the factory the only gives 90bhp not the coopers 120 so thats why the bluefin chips (plug in and play unit) is so good on the one but not as much with the cooper and S!!!

hope that helps a little tho without spending millions you'd be best set to get a cooper S

it'll take you about 4grand of mods to get cooper S performance from your NA unit!!! :D

all the best and merry christmas

Hi only joined last week but been into minis from learning to drive. Did not get my first till 1991 a A reg 1000 sprite red.
I have a mark 1 1967 850 in the garage awaiting a full restro job, but as taking so long in July this year got a 1275 spi Jap import mini tartan with no rust. Puts the biggest smile on my face everytime I drive it. Just completed building a new garage for this one and just got it inside today so at least it will be warm and dry at night now. Will be using this mini as an every day car and hope to get a few shows in with it next year. Just looking through the forum has loads of useful help which I am sure will be using a lot. Below is my 2 cars but the blue one is in bits now.

Hi I am Blair from Christchurch New Zealand.

20+years ago my brothers and I made our pocket money buying old mini's and giving them the weekend make over and passing them on. We had to many to remember. My partners son is about 6 months away from being legally let loose on the public roads of NZ and I spotted a incomplete 1974 1000 on a local auction site. It had been partially stripped with the intention of making a race car and was missing shocks, studs and wheels, interior and a number of other bits, but the body is almost rust free with only minor straightening required. I could not resist the temptation and using the excuse of Junior needing some wheels soon I grabbed a few friends, turfed the Lotus 7 of the trailer and shot over and lifted it onto the trailer after doing a deal.

Starting pulling it to pieces on my return home and as often happens its seems to have gone a bit further than anticipated and is currently a bare shell heading for a bare metal rebuild. May run out of energy and some panels really do not need to be taken right back, but we will see.

The motor is apparently the original 1000cc but has had a 1275/1300 head put on. Have not paused to think about what this means but believe it has never been started since and is not running. So resisted the temptation to try and get it running so I can check out the consequences this mismatch may result in.
Anyway a few pics attached. Currently days over 30 deg C here at present and evening in low 20's so conditions are a little more conducive to getting out into the shed over our summer break at present. Back to work on Monday so progress will no doubt slow dramatically.

:shy:
