Hi All
Over the years I have owned the following
1st Car 1966 Triumph Herald I wrote that off and then had the following
1977 1275GT,1971 Cooper S, swapped that for a 1967 998 super deluxe sold that and bought a 66 Morris Cooper with an 1100 engine, blew that up on the A41 so scrapped it , even though it was mechanically sound back in the eighties old Coopers were just old minis. bought a 1963 Austin Cooper 1071 S for £350 and thrashed it till it fell to bits, bought a pretty sound 1960 MK1 Austin se7en for £75 and re shelled the S and again thrashed it till the engine dropped its oil on the edgeware road so it was garaged in '88 and Ive still got it in storage awaiting restoration. then bought a '65 S for £100 (it was easy to pick up Ss)
wrote that off but retained the plate/V5 etc in order to restore it later. will upload pics in due course.I have to say all those minis drove differently but all with predictsble degrees of understeer

Hi im Dan, im 19 and live i Rose green, bognor regis.
I drive a 998 silver 88 mayfair, of course it has the wide arches with superlite 7x13's and angel headlights which look awsome.
This is my firs car ive owned it for nearly 2 years now swapped the engine not long after i bought it due to the second gear losing all its teeth..it did feel a bit nackered to start with.
the new engine i had previously stripped down and rebuilt for my own amusement, skimmed the head and port polished most of it,painted it redand is also has a sports exhaust sounds lovely and single su carb at the mo..got some twin su's to put on later on once i find all the linkage parts. few other facy bits like sports coil and a nice shiny rocker cover all on there to make it look presentable.
i also have adjustable suspension and dampers to put on but not really got round to doin it yet also i fitted some really loud airhorns i was given as a joke for my bday for the car which i strongly reccomend haha loads of fun and so much better to out horn bigger cars with!!
Currently has a few shades of grey primer and silver on it, im trying to redeem it of rust for a respray at somepoint! other than that you might have seen me driving around bognor or chi im out quite a lot..so give us a wave if you see me!

hi everyone,

my car is a 72 clubman estate, currently in a friends backyard as i haven`t got space where i lodge.
The car is basically sound, though it looks as though its been painted with a yardbrush, in grey primer, with patches of maroon!
I got the car a couple of months ago, and i`m just waiting for a few dry days so i can get on and work on it. she`s refusing to start having not been run for 7 or 8 weeks.
The engine appears to be a 1275, according to the engine number, it seems to be an spi engine, though it`s fitted with an su h1f, and it`s got cooper s discs, so i think i`ve got the makings of a decent little car1

Regards

c j

Hello everybody,
I am Kyle, 24 and I live in BC, Canada. I own a 1979 Mini 1000, Leyland Canada edition. I constantly run into people who know more about my car than I do so I'm hoping to remedy this.

I had a large amount of work done to the engine, especially the top end which cost me a pretty penny but that work doesn't appear to have been done correctly so I have a long way to go on my car until it's showroom ready.

I'm sure it'll be a pleasure to meet you all on these message boards.

No mini at the moment looking 4 a 1968-1992 mini any model with little work needed as a project. Only problem is i don't have any experience with welding or body work and only limited mechanical knowledge also never worked on a mini, and to top it all off i have a really tight budget I only have £100 to buy a mini & not much money to put into it. CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT?

Cheers

Jay

I own a 2001 rover cooper sport, which i had tuned at the john cooper works garage before it shut down,

on top of this i have (needed) a full new front end, the body work has been fully de-seamed and de-bumpered welded up and smothed off.
the engine spec over the works 90bhp kit is
offset bored with powermax pistons (1380cc)
wedge bladed, ni-tempered & carbourised 84mm stroke crank (cc up to 1425!!)
mpi fast road camshaft, new followers & double valve spring set,
uprated/adjustable fuel pressure regulator
pipercross induction kit,
performance ignition leads,
duplex vernier
new clutch,
straight cut close ratio gear set,
drop gears,
3.2-1 final drive,
fully adjustable gaz coilovers.

and a few other bits, spent 13k to press not got it back yet tho!!!
will also be getting a set of yoko A048R rubber for the beast, and a 3d fully mapeble injection system :-D

meanwhile my day to day drive will upset a few people its a 220bhp bmw (large) cooper S!!
getting an R56 cooper S works next year!

Just bought a 1985 Austin Mini :bah: Mayfair Auto in BROWN!!

Bought it 30th September 2008, had just passed its MOT in August and had done 4 miles since may 2007 (when it failed).
998cc 36666 on the Dial.

Future plans, to actually pass my test finally!! Until then I'm going to to spruce it up a little, keep my eye on the body work and just generally tidy it up. When I get road worthy then I'm goin to take it to MiniSport @ Padiham and cross my fingers.

Mine is a 1973 Mini Clubman, was originally a 998 Automatic, its still an on going project, but has:

  • Resprayed red with black roof.
  • 1380cc M.E.D engine stage 3 gas flowed 12G940 with single 1 3/4 SU
  • 6x10 minilites
  • hi-lo's
  • adj cam
  • Full roll cage with welded in brackets for safety harness
  • single skin boot / no cross member on bonnet / lift off bonnet
  • Cooper S Discs & EBC Green Stuff pads / Mini Fin rears
To do list:

  • A good polish! (and some little dent removals!)
  • Engine rebuild (its in boxes next to the car in the garage!)
  • fit new discs
  • s/c c/r gearbox
  • group 5 (possibly) arches
  • 2 new bucket seats
  • 1380GT Graphics in style of original 1275GT graphics for the sides (just purchased them off ebay)
I'd like to think I'll have the car road worthy for the L2B run next year... but its a mini...and its a project...we all know these things never stick to the original timescales!
