Since saturday I am the proud new owner of a 1380cc Mini Minus. Only recently finished. Only plan is to finish the interior as this is the only part of the car that needs anything doing to it.

I bought a '79 Mini 1000 last May in Canada and got it into the states in August. I have wanted a Mini my whole life! I am very excited to be a new Mini owner, though I have to admit that I have much to learn about their history and how to work on mine. I successfully changed the oil and replaced a headlight so far. As I have never worked on cars in my life, I'm fairly proud of myself for accomplishing these small tasks. Baby steps right? Now if I could only figure out why my key is stuck in the ignition and where I should be buying parts as my mechanic is in Canada...oh the fun begins!

mine is a 1988 mini city E. i got it for free from my mate who was gonna cut it up and dispose of it in a wheelie bin. i saved it and put a new front end, new doors, new sills, floor section and steps, rear hinge panel and now a plate on the front subframe mount. i bought a p reg cooper half leather interior for her with carpets, headlining and walnut dash with magnolia clocks. i have mini lights on her with falcon tyres. a mk2 wavy grille. rear over riders. frenched fog light in the cluster. wooden steering wheel which may be the next renovation on the car. the engine is a 998 with a single box side exit 2" system, mated to.... twin stromberg cd 125's! they are the coolest bit of the car! i am in the process of collecting parts for the new engine i am building and am starting the rebuild by reworking the head and then going from there. the engine will be lightened and balanced, fast road cam, big valve reworked and skimmed head, duplex timing chain, rebore +60. thou. it will also run on twin cd's as they are better than su's. (in my opinion and the mechanic that i use!) i am now taking her to shows now that i have a car worthy! she will be on the london to brighton run on the essex mini club stand. i may have put the arches in color by then but not sure yet! oh and i painted her myself. it was my first ever respray!Attached File  100_0326.jpg   301.13K   13 downloadsAttached File  100_0325.jpg   359.23K   16 downloads

Hey guys kinda new here, been registered for a while, I just thought I'd introduce myself and my mini.
I drive a 1994 (on a L plate) Sprite (1275cc Carb). I bought it with 4580 genuine miles (as of today it has 10110 :w00t: ) in May last year. (I even passed my test in the little guy!)
It was a bog-standard Sprite when I bought it. I've added 12x5.5 Superlights, Cooper grille, spotlights, overriders, clear front indicators and other shiny external bits. It also has a cat-back RC40 exhaust and K&N air filter plus a bunch of interior bits, its also fully waxoyled so no rust for a while at least  My plans are some group 2 arches, black with white piping Corbeau classics, and black doorcards.

Anyway time for some pics.
This is what he started out as:

He now looks a bit like this:

And a (bad) picture of the interior as he is now:

So what do you guys think I'm kinda going for a "modern retro" look if you know what I mean. :)
Oh also if Steve Blacker reads this I absolutely ADORE your car and have used it as inspiration (kind of) been as you started with the same car more or less, cheers.

This is Meanie. He was a 17th birthday present from my parents in 2001. I learned to drive in him and passed my test in him. My first London to Brighton run in him was in 2001 and i've been doing them ever since (although his alternator packed up on the 2001 run, and we had to be towed home from London, but hey, thats life with a mini for ya! :w00t: ) He was originally Atlantic blue but was resprayed in 2003 in Trophy Blue and glittery silver roof and arches. I have spent the last 6 years gradually getting him the way i want him but still haven't got there yet! As you can see, the interior is a bit different, long gone is the original beige of 1980s cars! In september i decided to put some decent shocks on him as his standard ones were leaking, and unfortunately he had to spend a few months off the road as i found some horrible rust on his rear end. A friend of mine welded in some new rear arches, valence, bootcorners...He should be back on the road by the end of the week hopefully, he's ina garage having his front wheel bearing replaced!

Hi all,

I cuurently drive a 1998 cooper. It is fairly standard apart from a new exhaust system and some cosmetics adjustments. It's my 3rd mini (all of which have been coopers of various ages).

I am looking at adjusting the suspension and brakes next then will be looking to increase the amount of power I can get from the engine.

I have attached the pictures of my current mini and one previous

cheers

Gordon
